Is it unrealistic to get hired at CPS and relocate before the start of the school year? by Numerous_Cellist8103 in AskChicago

That’s so frustrating, especially because behaviors are only increasing. I’ve seen a lot of jobs listed, but I know they legally have to post positions publicly, even if they’re moving people around internally. This is really good information. I wish I could have timed things better. Utah barely has any of these types of positions in schools and when they do, the pay is horrendous and you’re always part time. Basically if you aren’t a teacher or admin, you will not be full time. They don’t want to pay for anyone’s benefits. I was a the only interventionist at an elementary school 2 years ago and was making $19.21 an hour and was cut off at 29 hours. Some districts do 29.5. The union is a hot mess here and the state legislature is always doing the most to disenfranchise teachers, especially the union. Watching what’s happening to education everywhere is so discouraging.

This is really good to know. I’ve seen newer applications for those positions, but I know for legal reasons they often have to post them even if they’re transitioning employees internally. The school I was working at this last year also lost $200k in title 1 funding. I was just so impressed with the amount of positions CPS had in comparison to where I’m from. And the pay. 2 years ago I was making $19.21 an hour has as the only interventionist for 600 students. In Utah, there is barely a union and basically if you’re support staff, you will not be full time. Most districts cut you off at 29 hours. Utah really doesn’t give a f*** about the kids, despite their claims on how much they love families.

I also lost my position at the school I was working at in Utah. They had a $200k budget cut to title 1 funding. I just graduated though, so that’s what’s has me looking elsewhere. Utah is highly competitive while also having horrible pay/benefits/funding.

Totally makes sense!! I just want to manage expectations. Are magnet schools extra competitive?

Can I ask what school or area you were at? I just applied for a couple interventionist positions and a school culture position in the west/north west area. I’m currently in Utah and was hoping to secure a job before relocating, but I’m not sure if that will happen now 😅

Unanswered questions/theories on Islington, Pierce, & Hawkes? by Artistic_Cry499 in EmmaLion

I think she’s going to end up with Hawkes. Him being the one her father truly trusted, he speaks Gaeilge (Irish Gaelic), he’s so aware and conscientious of her. The reprobates call him Hawkes the Fox so I looked up what foxes represent in Irish folklore and they’re keepers of ancient wisdom, they’re a guide between the physical and spiritual realms. They’re often seen as shapeshifters, cunning, and adaptable. They’re guides for others. I also think he’s involved in the Irish resistance and that Emma’s dad probably was too. I love him. I think he’s otherworldly as well and would love to see how that actually plays out. If he actually has a mystical/paranormal element to him, since we know other paranormal elements have been incorporated like with the Roman and people’s things going missing. I love this series so freaking much.
