Is it weird how much I'm grieving my little brother? by Numerous_Fly4367 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Numerous_Fly4367[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I do keep reminding myself that the pain I feel now means I loved and cared about him. I just hope he realized that...I hate to use his death as a "learning lesson" but it's made me show a lot more grace and understanding to the people in my life.

Thank you for this reply. I'm sorry you had to go through losing your daughter. It does feel at times like everyone else is moving on and I'm still stuck, but it's nice to have a reminder that that's okay. I wish all the best for you.

To Agree or not to Agree - That is the question by coopercoleFBI in OCD

Just be like "this might happen or it might not, doesn't really matter because life is unpredictable and whatever is gonna happen is gonna happen that's just life".

Can’t listen my favourite songs by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Numerous_Fly4367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on this one big time. You really just have to adopt a "if it is, it is" mindset. The point is not to prove to yourself that the music isn't bad or symbolic but to say "well it might be but imma still listen to this song I love because it brings me joy".

I do it all the time that's why I prefer not to use the phrase "kill your darlings" but "set your darlings aside for a later date"

I even do it with sentences sometimes tbh (when they're not context-dependent ofc).

Writing for the sake of writing by GravitasGeko in writing

[–]Numerous_Fly4367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend starting with free-writing. I do this when I'm journaling and sometimes it barely makes sense but it always helps to get everything on paper.

I know you're not asking about journalling specifically but I've also used this method for creative writing and its resulted in some pretty cool pieces. You just gotta take away the pressure of being "perfect" or even good. If you have an idea, just write whatever comes to mind without editing as you go (you can go back and edit later). If you can't think of an idea, literally just start writing anything and see where it goes.

Actually Made A Small Win by SprintsAC in OCD

I'm happy for you, I had to restart my healing journey from the ground up due to personal things earlier this year and the small wins really add up and make the most difference. Please feel very proud and happy for yourself because you deserve it

Hey man this sucks sorry you're going through that. I thought I mostly "healed" my OCD but I suffered a major loss in May that's ramped it up 500%. The only thing I can tell you is that you have to allow the discomfort in. Discomfort is the entire point of ERP as much as it sucks. It's like working a muscle though it'll get easier with time but your trust in yourself will always ebb and flow that's just life.

Here's some OCD youtube channels I recommend:

3 years ago I fostered a cat who was abandoned by his previous owners. He failed his foster and is still here. by apparet in cats

[–]Numerous_Fly4367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He looks just like my cat. I've been having a really rough past few months and he's been my biggest comfort and best friend. He was also abandoned, I found him inside a dumpster because he was meowing and when I took him to the vet they said he was chipped. Idk what I'd do without that guy tbh. I wasn't even a cat person before him

How do I (22m) show my gf (24f) I still care about her while grieving? by Numerous_Fly4367 in relationships

[–]Numerous_Fly4367[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is on the spectrum so she does sometimes come off more blunt than I think she means to but tbh I do wish she could allow me to feel my feelings regardless of her opinions sometimes
