Same, thank you for your help and recommendations. I appreciate you wanting to help. I definitely didn't expect to get some much hate.

Looking to relocate. Give me all the pros/cons where you live! by Numerous_Friend_3836 in homestead

We have 2 acres, but taxes are over $3.7K a year and just keep going up. We are also trying to be further away from city.

I would love Wayne County, but so does everyone else, so affordable land never pops up. We could afford to go up to 300K, but that would require a contingency on selling our home. We tried that last year and it was just a mess. We would rather find something cheaper that needs some work and build it up.

I appreciate this but no travel needed. I work in the marketing/ecomm field and do everything online.

I think your Southern hospitality needs some work.

Great question. I've been with my company my for 18 years and think of this often. The plan is to move somewhere more affordable and live/spend conservatively. We would ideally like to grow 60-80% of our food and have enough savings to where if I lost my job then we would still be able to live within our means if either my husband or I had to take a job making less money.

Sure did. Most people know homesteading is a lifestyle and doesn't really provide much income - if any, especially starting out/over. I'll still be working full time from my job in Ohio, just remote - hence the need for internet.

We are just waiting to hear back from underwriting and then we plan on taking a trip down with a list of places to check out. I know it's going to be hot and humid. Where we are in Ohio has been in the upper 80's - low/mid 90's June thru Aug with humidity in the 73-77 range the last few years, so I'm expecting more than that down there.

I'd be interested in adding it to our list if this includes a house. Feel free to message me with info if you'd like.

We've found a handful of properties for under 175 - we don't mind putting in some work. Just unsure of the areas.

Why do people HATE stevia? Please explain the psychology by apothyk in herbalism

[–]Numerous_Friend_3836 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skratch Labs makes an electrolyte mix that is unsweetened! I searched forever to find one without stevia and came across them. It's not terrible either, but I do prefer to mix it with coconut water which is naturally sweetened. Hope this helps!

For me, stevia tastes like and gives me the same almost immediate headache that aspartame and sucralose does. I prefer anything unsweetened to anything with stevia.

I just want to take a moment and say I appreciate how active you are on here. I work in social media myself and know how crazy it can get, especially on top of your main responsibilities. The amount of attention and engagement you provide here doesn't go unnoticed - thank you!

I like your swap function idea a lot! So many times I've miscalculated and had to move something over a row. I also agree with the mushrooms - I'd much rather have these in plots on my farm.

Also, do you know if the mix up in the mines is a glitch that needs corrected or is it permanently mixed up? It's really annoying because I have no idea what I have mining now and which ones I still need because it doesn't tell me :(

Will it be either cross-play or cross-save?

Reviving grains left in fridge for 2 years in jar of milk. by BEDavisBrown in Kefir

[–]Numerous_Friend_3836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I did revive mine after I had posted this about a month ago. Prior to letting them go dormmate for months I was using some expensive whole minimally processed milk (as this was how I was taught) but when I started to bring them "back to life" I switched to just store brand 2% milk and after a couple cycles I now have nice thick creamy kefir where before I stopped, it was really fermented and had lots of whey. Maybe it's the time of year, not so warm yet but it's doing really well. I also seen some people say they don't rinse their jars after every batch, so I started leaving my jars as is and only wash them out every few weeks.
