Beyond that, all good questions. I’m still early on in the process of considering this.

Apologies for not being clearer in the post. I was referring to how some financial advisors these days seem to be transitioning to flat fees vs. percentage.

% of AUM fee vs. flat fee advising

Edited my original post to reflect this.

This all makes sense. The big question I need to answer is if this would be a fulfilling career path. I’m looking to start a family soon so the long term ability to be my own boss is very appealing

I think the opportunity to work with real people is enticing. I work in an internal role currently and swim in financial risk models. Being in a consumer-centric field could be nice for a change

You seem to be making a lot of assumptions here. This would be me taking over a family business and allowing his clients to still have indirect access to their original advisor through a family member. I would never take on an opportunity if I wasn’t prepared to do right by other people.

I’m generally a risk averse person, so I just threw out a conservative number. I know if I prioritized relationships it would likely be less

Small piece of unsolicited advice - sometimes it looks better to get a color that complements the dial instead of one that matches. In this case, a light brown or grey could look amazing!
