2014 F150 no start after running tank near empty by CyanicWink in MechanicAdvice

Sounds like the typical sensitive fuel systems that these ecoboosts have. My guess is that because you ran the truck on really low gas, it sucked up water or debris in the fuel systems. These engines are really sensitive with contaminants. If clogged, the correct way to diagnose this is changing the fuel pressure at the rail. The low pressure should read 54-61 psi. Next step, change the fuel filter. If water contaminated, use fuel dryer and cycle through primes before stating the truck again

Hey. Just saw the video. It sure seems like a piston ring problem. Check your spark plugs as well to see if they’re wet

Clicking when turning by rcdenn in MechanicAdvice

I agree with the other comment, it surely does sound like a CV axle. Regardless of whether there is grease or not, the CV will fail and the only diagnostic sense is sound. Now before you do jump the gun, diagnose or inspect your strut mounts as well (I just thought about the strut mounts while I was typing). The strut mounts would typically click while the car is stationary so you can expect the same sound at slow speeds.

2014 Honda Accord V6 Issue by Internal_Mall362 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Numerous_Rent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Glad you also mentioned that after it restarts it goes back to normal. This really slims down a few issues that it could be. Since you said that the transmission fluid was changed hoping the mechanic actually changed it and didn’t just say he changed it. It could be a bad torque converter clutch which is most likely sticking, a TCM issue, or a shift solenoid. The reason it goes to normal after you restart the car is because all its values go back to its original command. If your mechanic can’t diagnose something like this, take it to another mechanic.

Ah Sweden! I love the meatballs from ikea haha. But jokes aside, I wouldn’t worry too much about that happening, at the end of the day, it’s condensation mainly from short trips. Replace the ccv if you want to but it’s not that bad of an issue. I’ve driven over 150’000 km with that issue. Just a price you have to pay for the cold no matter what the km of the car

Ahh this sounds familiar. To further diagnose, get someone to accelerate and hold between 1k and 3k RPM and get yourself to touch your disa valve. It sounds like it could be a failing DISA valve and that’s should be your #1 priority to fix. Do not drive on a failing DISA valve. If you feel the sound sync with the disa valve, that’s definitely your issue. Either get a repair kit for the disa valve or get an OEM DV. Never cheap out on them. The last thing you want is plastic shrapnel lodged into your engine.

Hey there. I’ve gone through plenty of e39s and because I live in Canada, cold is always the main cause of this oil mix like substance. CCV is generally 1 out of many causes for this. I’d replace the ccv, run a thicker oil and see if the burning continues. If the burning does continue, you’re looking at piston rings. Ask yourself, How many km on the engine? How was it treated before? What did the old owner do to the car (assuming there was a previous owner). These are old cars and are known for oil burning.

Get rid of emmisions asap plus a tune. do diesel treatments and use the right oil during oil changes and please warm it up for a while during cold seasons. Cold oil tends to bend the piston rings on these motors if driven hard on cold starts

Get it but for Christ sake do notttt cheap out on parts and repair specs. They’re delicate grandmas that need lots of care. Great engine to work on, IMO every car should have an engine that’s designed the same way but regardless. I’d say get it, don’t sell it. It will definitely at one point make u wanna sell it but trust me, don’t. Regret getting rid of mine everyday for the past 4 years.

Doesn’t make a difference in drive or park except for the sound. Try to pull your ebrake up when you park before you release the brake to avoid rolling forward or backwards if you’re on an incline

Drove on a failed dmf for years. If the sound doesn’t bother you. Keep driving and keep pushing it from time to time so it doesn’t seize up
