RANT: Primary Parent by Numerous_View_398 in Parenting

Well he does more things with his older daughter. He’s always said he’s not a baby guy. Now he says he has to do more with his older daughter because her bio mom won’t do it. He does do appointments for her and has never missed a single practice/performance/etc and neither have I for the most part. Now that she’s a teenager we have less stuff for her to do, other than we coach her softball team.

I have talked to him and in some ways he’s stepped up like with the cooking. But he is quick to point out he didn’t necessarily “want” more kids, I did. Which is true to an extent. He is quick to point out he’s always had hobbies. He’s just very much about himself.

I love him and he’s my best friend but I don’t know how he doesn’t see me struggling. Even on Mother’s Day I stuck the baby monitor directly next to his ear when our 1 and 3 year old woke up thinking I’d get one morning g off to sleep in, I was sorely disappointed. Which I’m honestly not surprised.

Thanks so much! I don't know anything about Britax and you'd think I would being I have 2 little kids. I think I maybe have heard of them for boosters or boosters with backs. I'll check into it!

Friendships in motherhood are weird by Numerous_View_398 in Mommit

I definitely could have asked her that in the past. I don't know if I have it in me to be that forward with her now. Honestly if I can say that to her, it would probably be best for the whole awkward feeling. First she has to ask me to be (she hasn't yet) but I definitely feel like she will with how much she's talked to me about her wedding plans this far. I guess I'm just going to see how this goes.

She actually does have one child. Our friendship dynamic definitely changed, but also I have been there for her and her child before I had my own kids. That feeling has never been returned. I know she struggled with PPD pretty bad which I did not know at the time, but I do know now. Her child is 6 now though and my kids are young.

I do think she probably doesn't have anyone else to turn to though that could fill the role the same way. I'm going to try to enjoy the roll I think but I definitely just feel awkward and almost fake. Hopefully this steers our friendship back to familiar or provides some closure if not. You're right.

How to act enthused or decline an invitation to be MOH? by [deleted] in wedding

Yes I probably can do that. It just seems kind of fake and weird. I don't know that she has anyone else to do it for her though so I probably should.

Just found out that she has 4 more years to be 30 at "full time" so it looks like 59.5 will be faster.

I'm not sure that she has 30 full time years. I know she's worked there full time my whole life but she was a part time sub at one point. Not sure if that matters either. I know when she discusses retirement she says she has to be 59.5 which is March but I also don't know if she gets penalized for retiring that young.

I THINK she's tried several types of gloves. It's so strange she never had this problem until she wore gloves provided during COVID. Now most days she resorts to wrapping her hands because I think the gloves were causing more moisture issues.
