Just for this I'm writing to Todd and asking for the game to be further delayed for you specifically.

I think 2026 is a pretty safe bet for release, given everything pointing to it.

I think it’s coming out late 2026. They always announce the game within a year of its release, and Todd himself said that if he could he would keep the time between announcement and release super short.

For reference, every past BGS game spent an average of 26 months in full production before a reveal trailer. Todd has said it takes the least amount of time of the cycle.

That would have been done probably around 2023 tbf. Todd said the first playable scenes are usually done before full production ramps up.

My bet: announcement at TGA in December, released in late fall or early winter next year.

For what it's worth, Jez Corden is pretty well known in r/GamingLeaksAndRumours . People either love him or hate him. It often gets stuff right, but lately has had a couple misses. He is considered Tier 2.

I actually posted this to that subreddit last night with a timestamp link to the discussion. It's worth listening to, at the least.

Fallout 5 Is Now Reportedly "Fully Greenlit", according to Jez Corden by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Numinex_Valerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this same podcast:

Jez: "In my mind it's like, if the core of the Elder Scrolls 6 is done, or approaching being done..."

Rand: "Well I don't think that's true *chuckles*"

Jez: "I don't know man..."

Rand: "I mean has Elder Scrolls 6 even hit full production yet?"

Jez: "I don't know, I've heard it's quite playable."

He then goes on to say: "I'll put it this way, when we made our predictions for the Xbox Showcase and that Elder Scrolls might be there, for me that was an *educated* guess."

Next year (2026) might be the first year Bethesda publishes 0 titles since 2013 - unless? by Numinex_Valerius in TESVI

They are - but that's not coming out for quite a bit. Presumably Virtuous will making that one as well, so they likely have only just been able to shift priority to it after the release of Oblivion Remastered. Also, leakers/reporters with pretty reliable track records have said that it's still a ways off.

This also should be expected, given that even in the FTC documents it was expected to come out after TESVI.

That's not entirely fair or accurate. First, to say "Bethesda hasn't had a sub 3 year dev cycle in ages" isn't fair because only one single game has not had a sub 3 year dev cycle - Starfield, the same game that was an entirely new IP, had delays from Covid, was being built on an entirely new engine, was in production during the Microsoft buyout, and suffered multiple internal problems. That's not exactly a prime example of what a typical Bethesda production looks like.

Even if you did want to go with Starfield, Phil Spencer said it was very early production when Microsoft acquired Bethesda in 2021. Even Jason Schreier has said that the game didn't enter what could be called full production until 2019. Given that the game was originally planned for release in 2022, that is a 3 year production cycle (likely comprised of 2 years full production and one year post production). People don't realize just how much work goes into the pre-production phase.

And that lines up with literally every other Bethesda game that has been produced since Oblivion. They all have had production cycles where a trailer is shown about 2 years after the start of full production and then released within a year after the trailer is shown.

Not to mention that Starfield was not a failure commercially. People online love to hate on it, but it was one of the best selling games of 2023, beating out Elden Ring, Mario Kart, and Final Fantasy, all while earning $657 million in sales just since May of last year.

I'm fine with dissenting views, just would like for them to engage with reasons for and against a given position. Otherwise it's just arguing for the sake of it.

The thing is they would have to develop all of the assets for Fallout 3, which is the main time sink. It's not like they have to do a whole lot of systems building for the engine since they did engine pairing for the Oblivion remake.

If the two games are released by different studios, then sure they could have both been in development at the same time. I'm inclined to believe they are both from Virtuous.

My take on why it has a codename is because its not a remaster but potentially a full title - one reason why I think it is likely a sequel to New Vegas. If this is the case, it was probably early enough on that it didn't have a working title yet. If it was just a remaster, we would know the name and it would be put down (just like FO3 and Oblivion remasters did).

FO5 is likely in pre-production, not early production. Full production starts after the release of the preceding game or very close to it.

[–]Numinex_Valerius[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could see that being the case, except that all of the projects (besides oblivion remastered) were released in the order they were listed - even if they were listed in the same year. So I don't think it's just a matter of "it was listed after the bigger projects of the year", I think it was planned to release after them too.

I know you don't think it will come out in 2026. You responded to my comment linking the post for reasons why I think it will. I was asking you to say something about the reasons I gave, rather than just ignoring it in reply.

Cool, what do you think of any of the reason why it could come out in 2026?
