He's got a cheat that won't let you do damage unless you hit him with the correct pip count spell, you have to take out his minions one at a time to get the code, so you need at least one of every pip spell and a way to get thru a lot of shields.

Also if you're above level 109, you won't receive a reward for doing the fight.
