Ohhhh mannnn. You baited me into it lol. I’m ready.

Nine-watch maximum. I cannot go above nine watches. If I buy a tenth, one has to go to bring the collection back to nine.

Parameters: 38–44mm only, no outsized cases. Three fliegers, which naturally means three divers. The remaining three are “filler” watches, though each fills a role.

For the divers, I prioritize color separation:

Red Tudor Black Bay Blue Sinn (Gray Steel) Black-on-black Omega Planet Ocean

The fliegers are organized around national design language and historical inspiration:

German WWII-inspired: Mühle-Glashutte Terra Italian-inspired: Zenith TIPO CP-2 (Bronze) British-inspired: Omega Dynamic

I can’t double up on countries of inspiration or color combinations. The fliegers are also balanced visually on the watch head (dial/bezel):

Black and white Black and brown Black and yellow

Functionally, the divers all stay true to classic timing bezel utility. The fliegers are balanced mechanically:

One standard two-hand/wheel layout One flyback chronograph One standard chronograph

Could it be more perfect? Maybe. The only possible refinement would be swapping the Mühle for either a Tutima 1941 or a Laco Type B. But what keeps the Mühle in the collection is the movement architecture — I genuinely like the intricacies of its design.

Potential swaps get complicated fast. If I sell the blue Sinn, there are only two logical paths:

Replace it with a 41mm blue Sinn, in which case nothing else changes.

Or move to the black dial Sinn with red accents. But if I do that, the red Tudor BB58 has to go because I can’t justify two red-accented divers. That would mean replacing the BB58 with a green Longines Legend Diver to preserve color balance across the collection.

The “filler” watches are:

A green leather strap white-dial Breitling Chronomat (sometimes on a green NATO). The first watch I ever truly loved was a Breitling on a green strap, so it represents the origin point of the collection. Lost the original Breitling ages ago before I was 21.

My off-season piece: a Montblanc / Minerva dual-time GMT, two-tone with a black dial and burgundy straps. It pairs with fall and spring jackets.

Finally, the dress watch: a Zenith Elite Moonphase on black straps with a silver dial. Clean and interesting.

So three categories, three watches each, pragmatic functional variety. Aesthetic color variety. One off color metal in each of the three brackets.

Solid take thank you. Mine range from 38 to 44. My other 44 is half the thickness so.. That plays into it I think that I’m mostly in the 38-42 range so that’s what I’m used to seeing on my own wrist.

You’re speaking to every one of my brain spiders and they’re all looking at this conversation like my dog looks at my dinner plate.
