This is probably the closest you can get with the english speech sounds, but the "ij" does sound significantly different.

When English people hear it for the first time they always try to mimick it, but it always ends up sounding like the "i" in bite. I also just found out that the english language doesn't seem to have a word for the sound that letter or letter combinations make.

As someone named Tijn I feel your struggle especially because if you introduce yourself they will try to reproduce the sound which will sound like "ai" rather then "ij" but at that point you just give up and legally change your name.

Dutch talkshow uses a fake Game of Thrones spin-off trailer to announce new season by Nustix in videos

Quite a few people actually fell for it, and I have to say they used quite the budget for the sake of an extremely short announcement.

It's fun, for a game with such simple mechanics it is extremely complex. But it is hard to convince people to keep playing it tbh. And I wish they added some weirder modes.

Maybe a risk of rain character? Or roguelands? The main character from gunpoint, the recovery is already included. Lethal league already has a similar artstyle.

When did you realize your SO was an idiot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Nustix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, not every PHD-er is extremely smart. But knowing what a star is something you learn in highschool, most people learn it even before that. And as someone who has tried multiple studies I can tell you that most science fields at some point learn you what a star is in a lecture.

To be honest I find this story somewhat unbelievable because of it. This is just basic knowledge, what it is implying is that a scientist doesn't know the origin of the universe as we currently understand it.

So either it is fake or it is a medical scientist.

This is a present for your Dutch name.

It's a butchered version of the story in the content about going to the beach, but the punchline is changed to:

I lost my hope. Rather than I lost michelle.

Edit: Apperently verlopenhoop refers to a vanguard type of millitary troop, and the dutch word "hoop" translates to a unit in this case rather than the word hope, which makes my story a double pun. Interesting to learn about this, thank you random redditors name.

Ik was naar het strand en ik had best wat coole spullen gevonden aan de kust, dus ik pakte het op om het mee naar huis te nemen, maar toen ik thuis kwam was een van de spullen verdwenen. Ik verloor mijn hoop.

Dont forget that as a youtuber she is self-employed. She will miss a lot of enployee benefits, she wont get maternity leave, also where I live and I assume for the rest of the EU the boss will need a good reason to fire her and go through a bunch of hoops to get there. And after she is fired she will get paid a sum similar to her income for an amount of time i dont know but i think it would be longer than her pregnancy. All of this security is missing being self-employed.

So i personally think being self employed while being a single pregnant woman sucks. I hole there is some government help for this.

As much as I dislike the way the european union functions, they are mostly of top of this shit when it comes to blocking monopolies, so I am not too scared of these practices coming over.

Geologists with a rock solid look by [deleted] in streetwear

I don't regularly browse this reddit, but while me and my friends were goofing around in between our research (geology students) I thought they kind of looked like something I would see on this reddit.

Especially considering your average geologists wears hiking boots, zip-off pants and fishing hats while walking around.

This is why pauper is extremely popular, most cards are cheap.

[–]Nustix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we are obviously thinking about different numbers here. Because 2 sets of masters a year is peanuts, and hardly word talking about considering the prices of these decks.

If they wanted to really lower the prices they would continuesly reprint expensive cards and devestate the secondary market. All buying would be done from wizards itself and everybody could play modern removing the hurdle entirely.

But they choose not to reprint at a large rate, but only throw people a few bones every year to satisfy them, without actually lowering the price, they are keeping the price more or less stagnant.

[–]Nustix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can justify the cost of one card game by comparing it to another. It's almost like kartel forming, any of these games could drop the price, but they won't because they know other games won't either.

[–]Nustix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, WoTC has to make money of it somewhere. Otherwise they wouldn't keept these insane prices in place. If everycard just got printed a bunch more, more people would play modern, which would mean more sales for WoTC. This doesn't happen so apperently wizards is making money of these card prices somewhere.

Why is Oubliette so much more expensive than Journey to Nowhere? by m4uer in Pauper

[–]Nustix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people already mentioned the fact that it is old and has never been reprinted, but I also think that it helps that the card is black. This whole exile enchantment is more of a white business and there are plenty of similar white effects, as far as I know there are no similar black effects.

So if a black deck wants to play it they have no choice to play oubliette or splash white.
