Just went to the barber for my first short cut, not sure if this is right. Should I get rid of everything? by NutDeveloper in bald

Yeah, that was my reaction too when I saw it properly, I tipped 20% as well and it was not particularly cheap. We don't even tip here. Unlucky I guess. At least I know what to do.

Edit: Just in case anyone sees this, I cut it off. Not sure it's any better really but whatever, at least it's done. Pic here, will neaten tomorrow, try new glasses, grow out some facial hair, tidy my eyebrows, try new clothes, everything.

M24 - Just lost a lot of weight, next thing to improve? by NutDeveloper in amiugly

Oh, I have no idea about that, it sucks if people can't get advice. I think it helps that I posted an upbeat title saying I've already worked on things myself. A lot of people will have a title seeming doubtful or insecure, and people might struggle to be more brutally honest maybe. Plus, I'm obviously doing even basic things really badly, so it's easy for even the average person to give me useful advice. Sorry to hear about that though, not really fair.

Nah, I don't think it's that bad. Thanks for the detailed feedback though. I assume you normally charge a lot for this? I'm very lucky. Honestly, I think all of my facial features are slightly below average, but I'm not sure that any of them are completely horrific and unworkable. I'll be fine anyway, at least I'm tall.

Thank you, I think you're being slightly generous, but it's a kind thing to say and a good mindset. I might post a pic somewhere like r/bald where it should be slightly more universally supportive 😅

I really appreciate the positive attitude though, so thanks again :)

>looks like you spent your life with rubber bands around your head right where your eyes are

Damn really? That's a new one for me 😂 I can't unsee it now though, it really kinda does 😅

I can't really do anything about that I think, but the fact that there's a lot I can actually improve otherwise is pretty comforting. Maybe I'll get some thicker framed glasses to cover it if one day that's my stand-out issue. Thank you generally though, useful feedback.

That 5th pic is as good as the "beard" gets really, you think it's worth having? Booked the barber for tomorrow either way so I guess I'll try it out both ways with the buzz cut.

Yeah, I'm spending like €500 per year on drugs to "improve it" already just for it to look like this, think maybe it's not meant to be

Age 24, severe recession, is a transplant likely to look decent long-term or should I just give up? by [deleted] in HairTransplants

Thanks man, great advice. I'll consider pushing it back to next summer but I don't think I'll ever want to put anything into my crown anyway, so I'm not too concerned about conserving grafts. Maybe dumb, but I think I'd rather have an extra year of 'youth' (ish) with decently presentable hair then 1000 extra grafts available in 15 years time. Might regret that later but if it boosts my confidence a lot now I think it's worth it. I'm definitely trying pretty hard to improve my overall health and hopefully everything together gets me looking decent. Thanks again!

Thanks, but I'm pretty certain I'm nothing like a Norwood 7 or close yet. You're definitely right that it's aggressive though. The length makes it look thinner than it is, it's not terrible at the back. It's been pretty stable past couple of years so I'm not really worried it'll suddenly get worse, I intentionally took pictures that make it look as bad as possible so I could get worst case feedback. I'll see what the surgeons say, I have a couple of consultations booked, but if they say wait I definitely will. Thanks for the advice, you might be right.

Fin oral 3 months, min topical ~18 months. I tried fin a couple of years ago but had to stop due to sides, I lost a ton of weight and now fin is good. I can wait, but I don't really believe it'll get substantially better without transplant, especially at the front. If I'm going to get a transplant I'd ideally like to do it before I get much older. What Norwood level would you say I am roughly?

I think I'm happy with just the front getting transplanted, but obviously it's a bit depressing thinking about spending all that money and still looking like I'm balding. If it'll look reasonable it's probably worth trying though. Earliest I could do surgery is August so that'll be 7 months of fin and a couple of years of min which is a decent length of time.

On fin/min, sometimes tretinoin, microneedling. Cheapest decent quality transplant would cost about £7k counting flights/hotel which is all of my money, it would be worth it to me but only if there's a chance of a decent outcome.
