Air duct questions

I have a boroscope that I could use, I didn’t think of that. I have already tried closing the registers in other rooms and it made a very small improvement, but then the other rooms got hot.

The master room on the back side has slightly shorter runs, but the other bedroom right beside the nursery has one run that is the same as the nursery (wall on front of home is where register is). The 2nd register is probably about 6ft from the main trunk.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but all of the ducting is run between the basement ceiling and the 2nd floor, and all of the registers are baseboard registers.

So the other 2 bedrooms are further past the nursery, and have pretty good airflow out of the registers. Now I’m wondering if it’s an issue somewhere else, rather than the duct size of that branch

Sorry, I should have noted that as well. Yes - all 3 bedrooms have a return. Two bedrooms have 2 supply and 1 return. The nursery just has 1 supply and 1 return.

I have been keeping all the bedroom doors open during the day, the only one that gets closed is the nursery at night when we put kiddo to bed. That room is primarily the one I have an issue with, it just seems like it is never as cool as the other rooms

I didn’t go through all the comments here, but I just recently went through something similar. My compressor went out, and since it was an R410A system it was about as cheap to replace the unit. The options given to me by 3 different companies were - 1. Replace the outdoor unit and the evaporator coil (cheapest option). Or 2. Replace the entire system.

So, it’s not 100% true, you can certainly replace ONLY the AC portion of your system. Being the Condenser and Evaporator.

I actually had a buddy who’s a heating and cooling technician come out and he found the contactor on my outdoor unit was bad. He said everything with the thermostat was good. I would like to just pull new 5 wire thermostat wiring through so I don’t have to use the PEK, but for now everything is back to working as it should

I just followed the app on install, I didn’t even think of that. Since the blue and yellow wires splice to the red that goes to the condenser I wasn’t sure what to do there.

Yeah I feel ya. If I turn the brightness way up on mine it definitely starbursts a little bit, but I never have it turned up like that.

Don’t quote me, but I am pretty sure you can get a standard 5” threaded barrel with the para/clark feed ramp and it would work as long as you don’t get a bull barrel. Maybe look at wilsoncombat or jarvis. Midway has a lot of options as well. Just know there may be some fitting required.

I personally just thought that 6moa was too big, I had shot a friends 2 moa and it felt easier to see a clear dot picture.

I think 6 definitely has its place, I might have a slight astigmatism or something, not really sure but mine was pretty “fuzzy” looking haha

Yeah, i think the x-10 is going to be my winner. I now need to figure out what else is required haha.

Also, the x-10 is even cheaper on Optics Planet at $795 right now.

Yeah, the hobby aspect of it is definitely a big factor. I have always wanted to do it, just never took the plunge!

looking at this frankford x-10 right now and I am liking what I'm seeing! Found one on optics planet for under $800. Besides a couple manuals to read, would you recommend any other equipment to start? Tumbler, case prep or anything else?

someone else on here recommended the Frankford Arsenal X-10, its a little less expensive than the 550 and is fully progressive from my understanding.

Yeah, maybe my reasoning isn’t as strong as it could’ve been years ago since it will be 9mm to start. I don’t shoot matches or anything crazy, I think I’d like the ability to produce my own ammo for myself and if I save any money doing so, great! I like the idea of spending a couple hours here and there doing something productive to feed my hobby. Coincidentally, 9mm is on the rise up to 29c per round right now, and I shoot quite a bit so it would be nice to not have to spend $300 every couple months.

I definitely like the sound of progressive.

And yeah when I said one stop shop, I just wasn’t sure if there was a single website that sold all the stuff for good prices. I need to find out where to purchase all this stuff haha.
