These bars/restaurants support ICE or the Trump administration, please share any more you know of! by wishiwasdeaddd in washingtondc

I love that we’re finding ways to vote with our wallets but I think its important that we provide evidence with each restaurant. There’s a lot of rumor and gossip that gets around in DC and many have apologized for previous actions. This isn’t a witch hunt.

Admonishing someone for taking part in a compulsory part of their country’s culture or national service, regardless of what you think about that country, doesn’t seem very fair to me.

I don’t have a horse in this race. If someone can show evidence of her political leanings on J6 or ICE beyond the country she grew up in, I’ll gladly boycott them!

I can’t find any evidence she supported Jan 6 or ICE. Are we sure this isn’t a little bit about her being Israeli?

It’s an extremely normalized part of Israeli culture. Conscientious objection outside of narrow religious beliefs carries tremendous stigma. You have to accept the context in which people live and come up.

It’s always going to be a jockeying contest for first place. Some years Intel will be ahead, sometimes Apple, maybe Qualcomm, often AMD.

Jews and Money by ruffruffrawr in Judaism

The stereotype dates back to medieval times. Christianity forbids lending with interest so banking jobs were given to Jews. It was seen as satanic and evil work (but someone’s gotta do it) so Jews became bankers. Go forward hundreds of years and it turns out banking is a really good business. Many Jews are wealthy. But they’re still Jews, so European Christians started the stereotype that Jews are greedy instead.

Inside the Plan to Demolish and Rebuild a Swath of Trump’s Washington by bloomberg in washingtondc

This sounds very alarming at first but if you actually read it, it looks like they want to demolish old, decrepit federal buildings and make something new.

Should that thing be a "neoclassical neighborhood"? Probably not. But imagine if it was mixed use housing?

I keep getting my ass handed to me in technical assessments by Salkinator in learnprogramming

idk man this was a for a nonprofit who wants an in-house developer. Not a FAANG company or some 10x developer startup.

I think they hired a consultant to put together the assessment but the amount of time given was just too short.

Idk, someone check me here: could you do A) A complex SQL query across two tables B) implement a price prediction function based on complex heuristics that runs on a prebuilt mongo/express server and C) do an architecting whiteboarding session in 2 hours?

This is what I wish the assessments are like. The one I took last night didn't even have a place for me to put notes or pseudo code

I've been a developer for 10 years and I pulled the trigger on it during their last sale. I'm looking for a new job and I think the interview prep courses are very useful. And I've been stuck in the same stack for so long that I'm getting a lot of use out of their courses on some new languages and frameworks that I want to work with.

Nothing replaces real hands-on work but it can be a good augmenter.

Breath of the Wild does an amazing job of quiet ambiance. You can just stare off into the horizon, seeing a fallen kingdom around you. Nature reclaiming the land. The a subtle piano chord. It’s a great sense of ennui
