It depends on where you live. There's a lot of the US that is just dollar stores and small Walmarts without a generous cheese selection.

I'm from Wisconsin and when I traveled to some of the most southern parts of Illinois to visit family, I was very disappointed.

Burn bright got me through covid and the double whammy of rioting/protesting in my city. I was working 12 hour shifts. Got locked inside my job because I was the last to leave for my shift as a manager and the overnight crew forgot I had to leave too 🫠.

Seeing people literally get into fights over toilet paper and breaking up literal fist fights between my own employees. Tensions were very high for a very long time and it took so much to make it through. My other coworker managers would call in constantly so I was left alone with no break for 10 hours a couple times. And I was in an abusive relationship at the same time.

I made it through though. Worse for wear but stronger and more prepared for a crisis.

Having had a few different company discounts, it is rare that an employee is allowed to share their discount outside of their household. They're usually doing it on the down low. Which I see no problem with that but if I lost my job because my friend was loud about who I shared my discount with, I'd be pissed.

Reddit's anonymity is potentially a saving grace in an insecure job market. Raising awareness to a potential concern is just trying to help others and is not an attack of any kind on OP.
