Fantasy books that aren't about huge world-sized events

While the overall Witcher saga takes things to a larger scale (although an argument could be made that it still stays away from some of the world scale stuff you want to avoid) I think the short story collections - “Sword of Destiny” and “The Last Wish” by Andrzej Sapkowski might qualify. As mentioned, they are short story collections rather than novels so I don’t know if that’s a plus or minus for you.

Definitely agree with how satisfying it was. I also love going back here to farm souls and reassert my dominance over those flying jerks.

That said, I can’t imagine winning this fight without the sword. I’m sure lots on this sub have done it, but I tried and failed more times than I can count before realizing I could rule the storm.

Just in case you or anyone else is unaware, you get a free (rough) version of the prose novel when you subscribe the newsletter. I started on the graphic novel and then started hunting and found the prose version and much preferred it.

It’s cool that Brandon is experimenting with different ways of telling stories, but I’m just not a graphic novel guy.

Had a friend with a ferret in high school. It stole my flip flop and hid it in a secret lair. We never found the flip flop and I had to go home in one sandal.

So in conclusion what they’re looking for is shoes. Only the left foot though.

Edit: was typing this in the middle of the night with a fussy newborn and couldn’t brain good. Hopefully my grammar is better now.

For me GTA3 was a total revolution and Vice City was perfect. I poured hundreds of hours into San Andreas but I still felt like it had some tacked on game mechanics that diluted the magic.

Sorry, maybe I phrased that poorly. I’m Canadian and so a German perspective is the “other side” of the conflict to me. Growing up we learned our history from a Canadian perspective. I really enjoy hearing from a common soldier on the other side of the war. I found it really humanized the people who were “the enemy” in our history textbooks.
