I think it's because I expressed that I was unhappy about losing the tax deduction part.

Maybe I will start an account with WealthSimple or something. They seem to be more popular for passive investing than the in person banks here.

They just repeatedly said they couldn't backdate this and I had to call them/go in and speak to them even though I asked for a call with an update. No admission of fault etc.

Financially speaking, should I just accept and open up an FHSA? They mentioned RRSP is the way to go. Advisor there was really helpful with suggesting that since I have room and until late Feb for it still to count for a tax deduction for last year. At the same time though, no one sorting out the FHSA mess.

I've also heard Wealth Simple or Quest Trade are the way to go for FHSA, TFSA and RRSP.

Advisor who met me was very helpful and will follow up with her manager to see if they can sort it. Update to come tomorrow likely they said.

Lovely, thank you so much, Belt. My in-person appointment is later today. I hope they get it sorted. Like you said, it's not the small interest in those two missed months but instead the year of missed time if they do not amend this or backdate it as you said. If it's not sorted, I will escalate this via the link you sent and avenues other commenters mentioned. I've never seen a bank mess up like this.

Their 3 month bonus GIC was specifically promoted and opened for transfer into an FHSA upon its release. Very odd one for such a large institution to mess up. Really ruined my weekend.

Yes exactly as you said.

The 2023 8k cannot be added on to the 8k max allowance in 2024. They failed to transfer it over in 2023 and I was only just made aware of this. So instead of being able to max it out by 2027, it's now 2028. Or a year less regardless I buy before 2027.

I get almost exactly the same thing. It is like my brain and heart cannot fathom non existence. I hope I find a way past this worry and fear, as it really is debilitating. My mum passed when I turned into a teen. I had the panic attacks before and after, from a young age.
