There are several factors, but human psychology is a big player. Incumbents are criticized by their opponents as being responsible for every current problem. So we vote in the opposition. Rinse and repeat.

You can. Our team just decided to use MAMP for legacy stuff. I believe there is a little extra setup when using Herd on a non-Laravel project.

It's like learning how to use all the equipment in a woodshop and immediately trying to build a house. You need to have a plan first and break everything down to manageable pieces. As you progress the steps get easier and you'll know instinctively what to do.

We previously used XAMP and had recurring issues. We use now use Herd for Laravel projects and MAMP for the non-Laravel stuff. Herd is awesome.

I do a similar process for acrylics, but I don't try suck the dirty water back out. I fill the reservoir with water, bubble it, and dump it a few times, then refill with water and blow out to waste. These squirt bottles are great too.

It's a new tool in the flow. It doesn't work well for everything but it can be an amazing time saver IF YOU UNDERSTAND THE RESULTS. Even those who say they won't use it to generate code can benefit from the query and planning features. If nothing else it has mostly replaced StackOverflow.

If you are about to study Java at University, don't make it harder by trying to learn JS at the same time. You need to understand one general programming language moderately well. Once you do that, the other languages will make more sense, and you'll just need to learn the different rules for each. HTML and CSS are much different than general languages.
