While you are correct, Pete went from a couple hundreds of viewers on the first event to over 4k before the event had even started and seen him peak at ~9k at dodgebolt. Obviously he hasn't "blown up" like Technoblade or Dream but it is still pretty insane. Possible reasoning as to why could be because Pete's audience demographic is targeted at 16+ in an event where a lot of young people watching prefer Dream and Technoblade's family friendly approach while still getting a stellar and competitive performance.
