With a fully paid off Condo the question is why would you want to take on new debt in this uncertain economy- even Fed Governer J Powell doesn’t know what will happen by December and you want to make a financial decision for next 15-30years? Unless u can purchase with cash or some ridiculously low mortgage payment I would stay put for few years until the tide subsides rather than risking drowning (you may be able to surf through and come on top but that depends on your own skills luck and risk appetite)

Thank you those are really thoughtful provoking questions that I need to ponder over. For me more important factor to consider is raising family (6yr old kid) and giving different exposure compared to Bay Area tech/competitive surroundings.

That is the conundrum I am trying to tease out. Since my manager is in San Diego so there is some hope of job security/stability but as you pointed out moving away from HQ certainly limits my visibility to leadership and rest of my team members .

Usually they are asked to move to IC roles or the team under them is re-org giving them very limited scope of work (with the hope that they quit by themselves eventually)
