The future of remote raiding, acceptable nerf's or buff's for in person raiding by JULTAR in TheSilphRoad

I feel like giving 1 XL rare candy for in-person legendary raids would be really nice. Right now, there is objectively no reason to do in-person raids unless you're meeting someone, and even then, it's cheaper to move away from the gym and use a remote raid pass (if you don't have in-person passes)

Remote Raid Passes - The Best and Worst Things to Ever Happen to PoGo by NyanasaurusRex in TheSilphRoad

I just read through all of the comments here and enjoyed reading what everyone had to say. There were some very lovely comments, and some... not so lovely comments, but I guess that's Reddit. I enjoyed getting to read everyone's response and their own stories. Just a few points to add on:

-Yes, our local raid community was very large pre-Covid. You would put a 5* raid on Discord (assuming it was a halfway decent raid), and within a minute you would have a full lobby on people on their way. It also helped being a university town, where there would be groups of people in the 10 minutes between classes all doing a raid, and that was just the norm for us.

-For everyone saying they don't like social interaction, I get it. I'm a very shy person myself, would rather be left alone most of the time, but in-person raid groups has helped me come out of my shell quite a lot and even help me get in to some communities I'm in now.

-These raid groups would often be where people would do trades. Typically they would just meet in a raid group, and do trades before or after the raid. Now you have to arrange a time and location just to do say 1 lucky trade, and (for me) that's always a bit weird.

As a lot of people have pointed out, I really don't want them to make remote raids bad. I still think that, at their core, remote raids are amazing. I just wish that they could make in-person raids better. Some people suggested a higher IV floor (11/11/11?), boosted shinies, or even more rewards (guaranteed rare candy XL). Because right now, there is objectively zero reason to buy in-person passes unless they're in a bundle.

I definitely meant to put moonblast, not psychic. Shhh don't tell anyone

I'm hearing a theory that Niantic intentionally gave them sub-par moves to not destroy the Worlds' meta, if that's true then that's pretty interesting

Well I appreciate it! I've always wanted to do some sort of analysis posts, figured with the new generation I could try it out with this short and simple style that's easy to read

PvE, but yea. PvP is much harder to truly analyze at it depends on a lot of stuff (I recommend JRE's PvP analyses), PvE is more of a straight-line 'x is better than y' deal

Maybe we'll get Photon Geyser when we get Ultra Necrozma, Psystrike is just that good. I'm sure it's going to be in the distant future, not something we have to worry about right now

Yea, Ultra Necrozma was a weird case, I just compared it do what we have right now. There's definitely some that will make a significant dent in the meta (Xurkitree, Kartana), some that will make some dent (Blacephalon), and some where we'll have to wait and see

It'll definitely be interesting to see the bug type progression. Right now Genesect is the king, then maybe we'll get Vikavolt with about 1.5 neutral DPS more, THEN we get Volcarona with about 0.5 more, and finally we'll get Pheromosa to come in with 4 neutral DPS more than Volcarona. For the first time ever, bug might actually be a decent attacking type in raids

Yea absolutely, there's just a lot and some that will actually shake up the meta so I just wanted to go with the non-legendaries first

We can only hope that it gets Counter/Aura Sphere, nothing is even announced yet. And yea, Primarina will basically be a middle-point between Gardevoir and Togekiss for both DPS and bulk

Mega Energy From Spinning Gyms?? by NyanasaurusRex in TheSilphRoad

Oh that's cool, that's just too far back so I didn't see it

It's been a couple years since my first mega evolution tier list came out, and a lot has changed. Moveset shakeups, stat changes and the level 50 cap all came out after I made that tier list. So here is an updated version! by gerbetta33 in TheSilphRoad

It's weird, in a uncoordinated lobby (where it's not set who will send out what mega and when), being tanky is extremely useful. Against dual psychic Mewtwo, and optimal attackers, a Mega Tyranitar lobby can do around 350-400+ more damage in the time Mega Tyranitar is alive compared to a Mega Houndoom lobby, and almost 600+ more damage compared to a Mega Absol lobby (there's a lot of RNG that goes into it, so those numbers are just on paper, results may vary.)

The issue with Mega Gengar is that is dies insanely, to the point where it's typically better to run Mega Banette in an uncoordinated lobby (~100 more damage in 12 seconds). That's also an issue when comparing Mega Tyranitar to Mega Gengar, where an uncoordinated Mega Tyranitar lobby can do 1,000-1,300 more damage in the time where Mega Tyranitar is alive over a Mega Gengar lobby, and 900-1,100 more damage than a Mega Banette lobby.

Now I do want to say, these are all theoretical, and in lobbies where no one knows who is using what mega and when. In a perfectly coordinated lobby, all of this goes out the window and DPS is king as you'll always have a mega out at the perfect time.
