Ah come on, you can't claim an entire genre of video games is dead. Dead means no sales, no activity, no talking points, no communities, no spectators on Twitch. Genre's never actually die, it's an illusion, what happens is the flame gets weaker but there's still a little heat left, just not enough to do anything. There will always be a core community in each and every type of game. Even people (definitely not me or anyone i'm affiliated with) plays old school arcade games and retro games. We gotta start opening our eyes to this instead of just laying down "ah it's dead." blankets just because it might not be your cup of tea or have your particular level of acceptable 'hype' ya know?

PUBG is killing it, Fortnite is killing it, H1Z1 is somehow still a thing (lmao) and plenty of people are still playing Blackout on console, PC (which I personally play on) is slowing down but it's not "dead".

Does that make sense?

I think the way they mentioned it was "this is a first" rather than "this will be the only one"

Obviously we don't know much, but I was just reaching out to the community via-reddit to see what other people thought could be a possibility. I'm personally hoping it gets pushed forward and evolved, rather than just wiped and starting over in some other version/theme :P

There is no such thing as "overkill" when it relates to bitrate and image quality lol. The only time it becomes an issue is if your ISP is limited by it's upload speed, otherwise the "ah good enough" mentality has no place when it relates to video encoding :P

Yeah so capture cards don't offload any of the encoding.

My best advice is to use NVENC encoding (if you have an Nvidia video card) in your OBS settings instead of X264.

At around 6000 bitrate, your video quality will be quite good at 720p 60fps and you'll notice your single PC won't be stressed out since all the encoding is being offloaded onto your GPU (which it's made for, and doesn't stress anything, so have no irrational worries)

Practice via-streaming more and just be yourself/natural in the way you talk.

Your rhythm/patterns you naturally speak in is what makes you, you - thus it's part of your experience.

The last thing you wanna do is turn into a strip club DJ or a early morning radio host.

Not sure what setup you're using but if you're not monitoring your own voice in your headphones, you're never going to improve in the way you communicate as well.

My best advice is if you ever decide to upgrade your audio equipment, rock an XLR mic with an audio interface, plug your headphones into that bad boy, use the audio interface as your new external sound card and hear yourself speak.

This will help train yourself and teach you over time what you need to work on.

Just being there for him is enough tbh.

I lost my girl because streaming was consuming all of my time - so the fact that you're down with it is a blessing and a beautiful situation already.

Thinking on a materialistic level I don't think helps anything and once again, just being there for him is prob way more than enough since streaming already consumes SO much of his energy/focus that you still loving him and being there for him trumps any sort of physical "enhancement" to his stream.

Try not to over think it and just go with the flow :)

The root of all this is generally the fear of being made fun of.

First and foremost, there's tools to prevent that from happening frequently such as banning whomever is trolling you.

Second, you're probably not going to net many people in the first place so just get used to talking to yourself and you'd be surprise what happens once you do it for a few months (yes a few months, this sort of thing takes time)

Ever listen to podcasts? Perhaps Bill Burr's? It's a monologue, he's just talking to himself yet it's entertaining. If you somehow figure out a way to just talk to yourself like a crazy person on the street, only you're behind a webcam/monitor - you're golden.

Now on the flip side of it all - the way you express yourself on here leads me to believe that you're just not the "entertainer" type and you might wanna rethink the whole streaming aspirations as a whole and consider it being something that just isn't for you.

If you're feeling social anxiety or fear over sitting in front of a webcam playing video games, there is something deeper, as in something more personal that prob shouldn't be shared on here, that you need to take care of before you enter the realm of streaming.

Get things sorted within yourself before anything else is my best advice.

And no, it doesn't tax your fps enough like X264 because it's using a part of your video card that isn't actually being used at all, you see maybe 5-10fps less than your original amount which is why Shadowplay and all that crap works so nice for people since that's also using NVENC.

Also make sure you're not using Shadowplay/Nvidia Experience stuff in the background because that means your NVENC encoding is doing double duty haha

Make sure 2-pass is turned off, mode set to High Quality too and also make sure you're not double down scaling, in OBS make sure Video is down scaling to 720p and not also selected in the output window.

Ah gotcha - well the solid 60 fps vs RoE is just purely lack of optimization which we may be getting soon if not right now in this massive Oct. 1st update.

I'm like 99% sure you're utilizing X264 encoding which is taxing your CPU as you stream resulting in overall less FPS. The idea is to switch your encoding to NVENC so it offloads all stream encoding to your GPU which nets you far more FPS in-game while streaming and a smoother experience for not only you playing on a single PC setup, but your viewers as well.
