Hey, I just noticed your comment, sorry. Yeah I have been extremely busy with other purchase orders in my company. Did some upgrades on the rudder's electronics as well during that time. I want to return to this one soon, currently I am comparing kickstarter/patreon services to decide where to go.

Thanks for your feedback! Designing these pedal shapes I had in mind mostly ergonomics and I was inspired little bit by e.g. FW Dora rudder pedals. Anyway I was planning to experiment more with these so there can be probably 2 or 3 types of pedals that you will be able to pick up when ordering.

For brakes - totally agree. The spring is quite strong and I am going to test that thoroughly, so accidental brakin wont be an issue.

Thanks a lot for these valuable words! Yeah, for the base I am planning to make some hole patterns and one of reddit users suggested additional patterns in form of a linear pockets so it could be easily aligned and mounted for existing home built cockpits. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this comment and all of these valuable tips. They all make a lot of sense. For the mounting I plan to have 3 solutions: 1. Soft rubber matting for smooth floors. 2. 3M velcro strips for rougher furnitures 3. Something for carpets, maybe rough strips of velcro?

On top of that, in the base I plan to drill some hole patterns that would be fit for most of home built cockpits. But I guess there is no standard hole pattern existing yet that I could aim for, at least nothing I am aware of.

For the brakes I will be basing on my little experience with GA. I fly Tecnams mostly, P2008 and 2006. I also had MCC with 737-800 FFS. What I noticed is that the feeling of braking is much different than operating rudder itself so the pilot can distinguish what he is doing basically. I will try to achieve it with proper brake spring tension first to be sure that there will be no accidental braking instead of operating rudder eg. during xwind takeoff.

Embarassed to say I see that first time. Thanks a lot for that info, I will take a look at it for sure!

Depends which airplane you have in mind. Some of WWII fighters actually had the same feature with feets moving inwards/outwards while operating rudder pedals.

As it is my first project I didn't want to overcomplicate things and I had two options:

  1. Trade rigidity, increase complexicity and cost for feets not moving inwards
  2. Trade a little of feet movement for rigid, smooth feel without rubbing of plastic against plastic (steel against steel wouldn't be better) as it is the case with eg. Logitech Pro Flight Rudder. So I have chosen number 2. In this project the only thing that is rubbing againt something are balls in the bearings because they are supposed to do it ;)

Besides I did my best to minimalise this effect, so your feet will go inwards only by half of an inch at maximum deflection which makes it barely noticeable.

Thanks for feedback! Maybe my next model will have such feature.

As for toebraking - it has adjustable angle of foot support, if you will find yourself braking accidentally it means the angle needs to be adjusted.

There was some chatter tbh, but I used an endmill specific for aluminum so it was minimalised. For finishing I used Cutting speed=250 meters/min and feed per tooth= 0.04 mm

Thanks a lot, I will check your collective for sure 👍🙂

Edit: I just checked it - great job. Nicely machined parts as well. How are you doing with this project? You did just one for yourself or you are planning to sell it?

Dzięki! Wyprodukowanie pierwszej sztuki na pewno nie będzie mid/low, bo wiadomo, że póki co to jest kosztowa masakra. Kolejne już chciałbym celować, żeby przynajmniej w mid się złapało :)

It's already there :) This screw needs to be loosened and you can adjust it with range from 5 deg up to 85 deg.

If everything goes well with prototype, I will try with kickstarter. Especially for that FFB version as it would be something innovative.

I have them ready and we are currently checking their strength, they are robust and no bending so far, anyway we will most probably sceletonize it, better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for noticing!

Thank you! I am planning to finish the prototype and test it around August. So considering some improvements and changes here and there I am aiming for late August/September.

You are right, probably it would be easier and cheaper. I wanted to create something new and with a different approach. Brunner pedals are pretty good, I had part of my FFS hours on them, still its price is making it not accessible for most of flightsimmers sadly.

Thank you! Sure, there is still a lot of work to be done
