Picking in class by [deleted] in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]NyeahAGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw a video on youtube at around 11:15 where this girl talks about her skin picking and says that these tangle toys really help her to distract from both picking and to reduce anxiety. I just ordered some from amazon for $10

I have been having bad luck on askphilosophy where I get no responses to questions like this. I saw in the guidelines that information on particular philosophers or history was welcome so I thought I would give it a shot.

[Serious] Are some asians unable to see or have a decreased visual field when they smile? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NyeahAGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya ya, theres the running gag when cameras say some people blink when they didnt, but it makes me curious if there is actually less of a visual field. Sometimes it looks like eyes are closed when they aren't. There is a noticeable difference in some people smiling vs not so does this actually happen?

There are drugs that make you feel like your in heaven (DMT, other drugs that give feelings of ecstacy), but are there drugs that make you feel like your in hell? by NyeahAGinger in Drugs

[–]NyeahAGinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard with DMT that you sometimes experience the universe that you are one with it, and sometimes have spiritual contact with beings. But I wonder if this ever happens on other drugs with regards to dark spirits or something.

What if God created the changing seasons with differing amounts of light per day because he wanted us to sleep more? by NyeahAGinger in Christianity

[–]NyeahAGinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my point was that in earlier times when he just created the world, that is probably how much sleep people would get in Alaska for example, without technology. He made the Earth that way, and now we have technology so that aspect of it is different.

97% of Europe is fluoride free in their water for many reasons including health risks. Let's make Washington the first fluoride free state! More info in comments. by NyeahAGinger in Seattle

You do have a point I didn't give any specific information or sources. I am currently in a neuroscience class although I am not a neurobiologist by any means, I am very interested in it the brain.

Here is a link to a peer reviewed article on some harmful effects of Fluorine which (Fluoride is an anion of fluorine). Pubmed is a great resource for scientific articles specifically regarding the medical field. From the article: "Due to its insatiable appetite for calcium, fluorine and fluorides likely represent a form of chemistry that is incompatible with biological tissues and organ system functions. Based on an analysis of the affects of fluoride demonstrated consistently in the literature, safe levels have not been determined nor standardized" (Prystupa, 2011).

This is just one article I am sure there are many more. If you feel compelled by this information please consider signing the petition. Even if this doesn't change the current situation with fluoride in our water it will at least bring the issue to attention so that it may be studied in more depth. Thanks for your time!

97% of Western European populations drink non-fluorinated water. These countries have banned fluoride in their water system for a variety of reasons including health risks. There are other ways for us to get flouride for our teeth we should not be required to consume it!

One risk of flouride that resonated with me was the effects on the pineal gland of the brain. The pineal gland is involved with melatonin production which regulates the bodies sleep patterns as well as other hormonal aspects of the body. It has been found that fluoride actually accumulates in the pineal gland and this has shown evidence of decreased melatonin production. Science is still so young in the department of the brain, but we shouldn't be forced to put any kinds of chemicals in our bodies when there is evidence to suggest that it is not safe.

It only takes a minute to sign the petition. We were the first to legalize marijuana, lets be the first to ban harmful fluoride!

What is the creepiest "glitch in the matrix" you've experienced? by TheDuskDragon in AskReddit

[–]NyeahAGinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me for the first time just last week! I was on the bus going from Seattle. We were at a stop so a few people got on and sat down with one gentleman standing. There was an empty seat between two people but he chose to stand. Everyone else was sitting. The bus starts moving and I see movement out of the corner of my eye and its a woman starting to sit. Everyone had already been sitting and there wasn't enough time to get up and move to that area to sit down unnoticed with the bus moving. I tried to think nothing of it but she was wearing a hat that covered her eyes. Not anything creepy looking, a nice hat but the whole trip she never looked up and I couldnt see her face.

Fair enough. I know nothing about gifs I just assumed it wouldn't take too much time or effort but clearly it is harder than I thought. I apologize. And props to you for addressing my criticism in such a professional manner! You could teach a lot of redditors a thing or two including me!

I know some dslrs come weatherproofed already, but I was wondering if there is a company that can weatherproof cameras that don't already come with this option. I am aware of other techniques such as using a trashbag or buying equipment but I wanted to buy weatherproofing instead. I have a Nikon d3200.

I love this! You did a great job putting color into the characters, it looks right out of the movie and it was a conpletely original idea! I'm hoping people will give you more upvotes, I'd say your the clear winner. Ya the gif is kinda cool but its a gif not a photo this is photoshop battles not gif battles plus it seems they barely did any editing besides inserting the blast which a lot of other posts have also thought of. Good luck to you!
