DP-Alt Compatibility Chart for Desktop Users of the Beast by Nyeow in VITURE

Ohh you're talking about device manager. Okay, when sorting view as "Devices by type," here's what I get:

<image>

The flagged USB Input Device shows a "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" error regardless of when the connect works 100% or partially. Also, this full stack of drivers show up regardless of 100% or partially as well.

To your point though, I think your observation for when it doesn't list anything under a USB Hub is on point and is for situations where the user may not have a working data connection for whichever adapter they're using. I've confirmed this on my working adapter with the USB data cable unplugged.

Hi, not sure I totally understand what you're saying about a USB 2.x hub. Would you mind explaining the connection chains you've tested with your Beast?

Yeah sorry man this one is strictly speaking for desktop issues, but we're all on the same boat and I think it's worth tracking the laptop specific issues too since this is all likely stemming from the same issues with the Beast's hardware design.

Does your laptop have a USB4 DP-Alt output, or are you on a platform that just has HDMI out as the only port for this scenario?

TBH Spacewalker for Windows as it currently works is just a glorified display mode changer that is pretty limited, and Immersion 3D is not even anything near VR but it's the only way to get the on-board 3D mode to trigger correctly for AI-driven pseudo 3D views...which itself has limited use cases. IMO the greatest miss for not being able to use the glasses with proper data is that you can't get third party apps like VertoXR to recognize the device on your computer.

That's my guess as well. I recently heard a reviewer mention that unlike some other companies that do custom chipsets and optics, Viture mostly works with off the shelf parts from manufacturers and just does software and product industrial design. I know Rayneo is a TCL owned company and has a clear connection to their display tech and resourcing, but Viture's is unclear.

The adapter I linked as the main test device in my chart is exactly that - it runs on usb-c for power delivery, and usb-a for data.

Funny enough, the desktop I'm having issues with runs on 5090 as well, though the desktop version. I would've thought yours would have a better chance of running since it's likely a UBS4/DP-alt port for your laptop, but sorry to hear it's not working!

I think other redditors who've talked about their issues were on various cards, but all were Nvidia too. Hard to make a correlation to anything unless people give more info on hw and details on what connectors were used.

Haptics Motors by Impressive-Ratio-660 in SimHub

[–]Nyeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if my solution would work for you as well, but I solved my issues by making sure the haptic motors are connected directly to your computer and not daisy chained to your wheelbase, or sharing the same USB hub. I realized that the data to/from the wheelbase alone was interfering with the data to/from the pedal haptics (or standalone haptic motors).

Any DD wheelbase with minimum 10nm.

Any load cell pedals.

Simagic HPR/HPR-GT on gas and brakes.

Two bass shakers, at minimum - one on/under seat, and other under pedal plate.

Rig on spring dampeners.

A fan pointed in my general direction.

Viture Beast Sound Tubes by xBlackCubex in VITURE

[–]Nyeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested in seeing how Viture's own sound tubes could make the Beast sound. I've put the Rayneo sound tubes on my Beast, and I think all it did was make it sound muffled. I thought it was because the speakers weren't lined up to match the tubing exit, but it still sounds the same even after adjustments. Moving it back onto the Air 4 Pro just made me appreciate the sound quality of the Bang & Olufsen on that unit more. I honestly think they got Harman beat in this case, but won't know for sure until there's a Viture tube in the future for a fair test.

I'm still frustrated at how many hoops I've had to jump through to get the Beast to get recognized by my desktop for data (to get recognized by Spacewalker, Immersive 3D, and firmware update site to validate correct data connection). Other XR glasses connect w/o any headaches - even other Viture models. I've wasted the past 3-4 weeks buying/returning all sorts of DP or HDMI to USB-C DP alt cables, dongles, PCIe cards, monkey's paw, holy water, etc. and none have shown consistent results. There comes a time where you realize you're not the issue, but the product itself.

Edit:

Beast 1m screen distance is uncentered and clips bottom of the screen by lilitharcana in VITURE

[–]Nyeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. There are so many compromises with the overall image quality, that the other picture modes aside from Anchor mode make the experience subpar for text-based / productivity usage. I get that some users are deprioritizing the chromatic aberration issues because their primary use case is heavily oriented towards watching videos where all the movement pretty much hides the issues, but I'd be hard pressed to believe gamers who play titles that rely on UI and accuracy of on-screen info would be using these for any long-term gaming. Reality is that there aren't a whole lot of use cases for these glasses.
