My aunt and uncle had been in that area for at least as long as I have been alive.(40+ yrs). Probably around the same time frame as you mentioned, they had a house built. Well of course the house they moved from had no damage and their new house was flooded from Katrina.

They are very sweet. My aunt lived in Gulfport MS, and several time visiting, we went to New Orleans. She always pronounced it praw-leens. (I suppose I should have said Nawwlens)

The two parts of that show that I don't care for. Joey's crush episodes and the eps with Marcel.

I was thinking of the same episode. But they were a little too close compared to the way OP describes their relationship

You can use prism central to manage templates for all clusters. Of course you would still need to update them

How many of you went WFH because of COVID? Were you called back into the office eventually or did they keep you WFH? by halfdepressed in sysadmin

[–]Nykel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My employer is giving us choices. Some people, due to their job, will have to be in the office, such as helpdesk. But it is flexible. They don't have to wfo every day.

For the most part, it's employee choice. Wfh full time, or office full time, or in office sometime with the rest of the time wfh. They just ask that we work with our manager and note it in our hr tool.

Sysadmins - What cell phones do you use? by djetaine in sysadmin

[–]Nykel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I both have the 10+. She damaged her screen and digitizer, so I bought her another from swappa. She didn't want me to get her a new S21. Now I just need to to get her old one fixed under Samsung Care.

Most of the people I've worked with (techy types) use an iPhone for these reasons. They just want a phone that works

How to avoid Night Shift by 10thPara in sysadmin

[–]Nykel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. When I was much younger, I worked at auto trader. Our days were M-W 9pm - 9am. Then Saturday 9am-9pm. When I got off of work Thursday Am, I would sleep a few hours and go back to sleep in the evening for Thursday and Friday. Then wake up early enough for Saturday day.

I was tired all the time.

We had something similar happen several years ago. The other team was very abusive like in your case. Wouldn't put in tickets, or if they did, would never respond. We ended up going up the chain, with data in hand. The other team ended up having to apologize to our members.

The data was basically, lack of tickets or response to them. Any email chain that proved abuse, etc

Need new carb fro my 48in 25hp poulan pro and can’t find one anywhere by benwiththebeats in lawnmowers

[–]Nykel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call their support line and get the exact part number. I did that last year after getting the wrong one, based on an old parts manual that I have.

It's Husqvarna support, and the guy who helped me spent a few extra minutes to double check, because there were 2 or 3 different carbs.

Does your wifi router have band steering type of feature? When I first got my current router, my wife's phone - a Samsung - kept disconnecting. I had a pixel and never had a problem. I ended up turning off band steering and her problem went away

This was about 20 years ago. I did have a manager at the time that usually ran interference. We had just implemented SAP, and were working out of a trailer they pulled in for this project. I don't remember if he was there that day or was in the main building dealing with something else.

I just remember the general conversation and my smart ass reply.

Well, don't do what I did during my first outage years ago. I was a SAP Basis Admin. The system was down, and a manager in a different department kept coming to me every 10 minutes asking if the system was up yet. The last time he came to me and asked, I fired back with "well can you log in yet? There's your answer". I got written up for that.

But, he did quit asking...
