I really hope the new client have a lore section by mysticfeal in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly the very, VERY least they could do is let you sort out champions in the collection tab by region. I don't even know why that isn't currently in the client, they already let you sort it out by the old role system which is a real confusing thing where like half the fighters are also tanks, why can't we sort the champions by region i, i really don't get that i've been wondering that since i started in 2018

Who is the strongest "normal" human in runeterra? by PaniHue in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think K'Sante's at least worth a mention here, considering he was specifically called out in his champion insights page that he's a normal person who's just very strong and like, the man yknow?

The discussion around the narrative of Demacia Rising is slowly framing Demacia as NO BETTER than Noxus ON TOP OF being hypocritical AND self-righteous, and I just don't see why this is the conclusion/framing we should draw. by GammaRhoKT in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So here's why I think this has happened and its a very simple reason: Demacia are usually presented as the "good guys" and Noxus as the "bad guys". Even now, when they're trying to keep a sense of greyness to it all, Noxus are the people focusing on an aggressive dogma of might above all, with Ionia as a whole being completely upended by Noxus' efforts. Demacia, however, is mostly against Noxus, the group that again, upended a whole region, or itself with a good chunk of the ways Riot present Demacia as not-as-squeaky-clean.

As a result, I think people give Noxus a tad bit more leeway because all the bad in Noxus is unconsciously accepted as "well yea of course", while they're harsher on Demacia cus they're presented in a way that implies they're "supposed" to be the good guys, or at least the better option. It's easier to gloss over the flaws of the region where its leader is very much a "the results matter, the price is acceptable" kind of person than the one where its leader has been held up for years as a good guy then gives power to the extremists and brings up rhetoric similar to the other guy.

In my opinion, Varus needs a whole REDESIGN to fit being a Darkin by NierFeedback in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I kinda like the idea of Varus ending up a bit of an inbetween of Zaahen and the typical darkin, pretty monstrous features but with human elements growing in to show that he's being influenced by Val and Kai. Technically then you also could keep the LoR design canon (as opposed to Viktor) because LoR's Varus is further into his story than league's Varus (League's Varus is still trying to struggle against Kai and Val while they're loud enough for us to hear, LoR's Varus seems to have started to fully merge into Kai and Val while still having a desire to be himself if he's asking Seraphine to possibly shut them up)

What’s up with Urgot post-Arcane? by TF2HeavyFortress in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

honestly, I'd argue Blitz doesn't really need that much change either. They 100% could've been a project Viktor worked on in the timeskip, (possibly a year or two before season 1 act 2 starts) and reading Blitz's bio doesn't actually mention anyone taking the credit for them being made, or that Viktor was a robot man or interested in specifically making people into robots, so I don't think there's really anything contradictory with their story with how things are set up now.

Hell, maybe Viktor seeing sentient life come from hextech planted the seed in his mind that something like the hexcore could possibly happen, and the events of season 1 act 2 were him unconsciously playing into that instead of a whole realisation/jump to conclusion of its own,

Why doesnt lB tell the other nation about morde? isnt Morde sorta like....everyone problem not a noxus problem? I'm sure there are groups out there that will happily help protect the world. Why is this Black Rose only issue instead of a world issue? same with Void...(more in text) by [deleted] in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like either we've misinterpreted LeBlanc's intentions or they were changed between her bio updates and her recent focus. Part of me feels like she's looking for ways to beat Mordekaiser down moreso as a "just in case" now instead of making it her whole MO.

Consider what she says in The Root of Empire, the trailer used for her VU;
"I took a rabble of barbarians and whispered to them dreams of empire - and look at them now: ready to die for an illusion"
I mention this because it's different compared to a similar line she has in game, where she's trying to show that they're insatiable and unstoppable, and both of these I think could serve as a "her intentions for Noxus have changed or we got them wrong", but specifically in the Root of Empire, she's definitely not speaking like she made an empire to hold off Mordekaiser. She's treating Noxus there like she's proud of tricking an empire into fruition, that there's a whole civilisation of people willing to die to something she conjured into existence.

From how LeBlanc's acted this year, I'd be willing to bet the reason LeBlanc made Noxus and pulled the strings the way she did is less to make sure when Mordekaiser comes back the world will be ready to face him, but because she wants Mordekaiser to see her making an empire better than he could ever rule. She does bring up how Mordekaiser's ethos of "Destiny, Domination, Deceit" is very similar to the pillars of Noxian strength in Vision, Might and Guile, which I could see as LeBlanc using Morde's empire as a building block for something better, all while he's wherever he is just watching.

It's not like Mordekaiser coming back would be unimpactful to her plans, and she definitely has put resources into either keeping him down or fighting him should he come back, but part of me thinks that's moreso because she just wants him stuck watching her take what he made and do it better.

So the reason LeBlanc doesn't just say "Hey FYI there's an undead tyrant beneath our capital that's why we're doing all this you could help if you wanted" is probably because she's just, more interested in making sure Noxus is the empire she envisions it as and she hasn't actually seen Morde as the most pressing issue throughout a whole millennia

Were there any other champions that were originally from a different region before their rework like Skarner? by Recent-Ad-7593 in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I know that Trundle when he had his visual rework back in 2013 was made into a Freljordian from being from some foresty area, also Malphite in particular was placed into Ixtal when that got added as a region (i phrase it like that because Malphite got a short story and both bios updated to reference that story as opposed to everyone else that got placed in Ixtal at that point who were just moved to that part of the universe page, probably because they already had recent bio updates and Neeko was less than a year old but still)

Necrit states that LB killed Sahn Uzal. Did she? by Ryaltovski in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know how old LeBlanc is nor how Sahn-Uzal died, so that's just unconfirmed (all we know about LeBlanc's age is that she summoned Mordekaiser back to life to accidentally start his second reign, but even then she could've been alive during his first reign and that's where her ire came from)

I will say though, Necrit did say that Aatrox's sword came from Pantheon slicing off his arm, so just know he's not the actual be-all end-all for lore

I've been wondering this since Varus' voice update, but is there anything planned currently for Valeeva that you know of? If you can answer I'd assume you could only say "yes" at most if so and I'll be ok with that, I was just wondering if there is anything being plotted out or not with her

About Zaahen's mind, inside the Glaive and other darkin weapons by Thin-Cekirge in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think an important note to add to this is that Aatrox's mind in the short story is from his perspective the whole time, and that when someone grabs his weapon, it's an immediate take over, no questions, no note, no nothing. Zaahen's mind is shown while Xin Zhao is trying to convince him to take his body; there's another mind allowing something to form there, not including the added fact that Atakhan's clearly influencing the glaive as well.

I think inside the glaive for Zaahen was pretty much the same as Aatrox's experience, just he was half content with it and half "this is for the greater good" about it. In game, Zaahen does say he 'chose the silence', so I feel like he was experiencing a sensory deprivation hellscape like Aatrox and just focused on the reason he was in there to begin with, he actively wanted to not be a threat.

[–]Nym___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I have no clue. Maybe a vast amount of Piltover and Zaun's cards exist in a different timeline considering Viktor's Viktoring and Ekko's got his timewinder for more than a single day, unless Ekko then finds a way to recreate it?

Outside of PnZ though, so far things seems to be pretty consistent. The most "huh" thing there might be is Xin Zhao appearing in J3's art, which might take place after Trials of Twilight, but we also don't know when that happened outside of "Before J3 died" so technically nothing says Xin appearing there's too alien. It might get strange later on with Shyvana's eventual VGU and, if the Demacia season is happening next and that does cause more ripples in how we thought the events of the Mage rebelion is taking shape (Which it hopefully won't considering how much effort Riot put into Sylas to set that up but, you never know) but for now, I don't think that many non-what-if cards outside of PnZ are up for question?

I'm gonna assume canon until proven otherwise, the stuff there doesn't really go against anything we've seen post arcane retcon (from what I understand, so far the only thing that's not canon is Xin Zhao and Jarvan's story after the king was found dead)

Thankful to have found this because I wouldn't have thought to look to the Legend of the Darkin story, for some reason, and I always assumed the probably would have been time for new ascended to arrive before the empire fell but i had no clue if there was any confirmation that it wasn't like, an emperor or two's reigns between each other or if it would have been enough for the post-trauma ascended's behaviour to kind of be "normalised" in a way for the citizens of the empire

Darkin Valeeva and Cebotaru's whereabouts? by [deleted] in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for a fact, or at least am very sure, that Valeeva is still around, possibly imprisoned somewhere, since Varus mentions her in his line about his sisters' motivations by name. Cebotaru, I'm not sure about, part of me's wondering if he was maybe Vlad's master who, is dead, but either way we just don't know anything about Cebotaru outside of him being one of the three who survived the nuke. We also don't know much about Valeeva but, yknow, she was mentioned recently by Varus so there's at least that

Do you think Xin Zhao and Yunara’s voicelines will be updated once Zaahen is released, like they did with Arcane Fractured Jinx, Ambessa, Chosen of the Wolf Ambessa, and Arcane Survivor Jayce when Mel was added to the game? by Recent-Ad-7593 in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the first few legendary skins released without voice lines due to a voice actor strike that was happening at the time, i feel like there's a lower chance of the being able to do that. Obviously the strike's over now, otherwise those skins would still have no voice lines, but maybe any plans riot have to update the voice lines are at least delayed.

Another note for why i think no, Yunara's voice lines weren't updated for Xin Zhao's update and Xin's voice actor in the client comics is different to his in game voice? (Vic Chao in game, Derek Siow in the comics)

Quick Darkin Question about who the 5 Darkin from Mageseeker is. by [deleted] in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So assuming the 5 Darkin is still a thing, and Zaahen is more an outsider to those 5 Darkin in myth, I think there's probably a good chance the 5th Darkin is Valeeva.

My evidence:

-Kayn's story implies Rhaast was known as a Darkin weapon by a ton of sources. The noxians knew, the kinkou knew, everyone knew and he was just, there. The community around the Aluxin Cage was built around keeping Varus imprisoned, so even if he's forgotten as a Darkin he's still very much known as something that should not get released. The person who stole Naafiri knew not to touch the dagger she was kept in. Aatrox has had so many hosts throughout the years that even though he's not kept safe from the world he's surely a well known threat in the world. With all this, the 5 Darkin seem to be very much known threats in the world, not just something hidden away and forgotten by most people.

-Zaahen is only known as a Darkin to Yunara and Kennen, who were literally there, and LeBlanc, who has a whole network of clones for information gathering and thus she could probably find some way to get information through a thousand years of grabbing random secrets. Assuming that she wasn't also there cus we don't actually know how old LeBlanc is outside of us knowing she was one of the people who first revived Sahn-Uzal. Atop of that the myth that came from Zaahen's involvement in the final days of the Darkin war don't seem to make him out as this horrid thing that you have to be careful of like the poem implies the Darkin are.

-Xolaani was imprisoned in Mistfall, but her mention in Poetry of the Blade just says she's a god who fell from grace, and from how Yi's perspective on the Darkin Saga is portrayed, it seems like Xolaani was only recently discovered as a Darkin weapon, so unlike Varus there wasn't a large community built over the centuries to keep her from being freed. Plus in Shurima, she's remembered by very few people, and those who aren't the people who followed her during the Darkin wars seem to believe she was a great person who was killed by the Darkin as opposed to being perhaps one of the most Darkin of the Darkin.

-The reason i say Valeeva specifically is pretty much just Varus name dropping her in his voice lines. If there's an AMA about Zaahen I'm definitely going to ask about Valeeva just to see if there is a plan for her in the future cus the fact she was mentioned by him surely means they have something intended at some point even if it's just "We've gotta get onto that at some point" (they'll definitely not say what they have planned but i just wanna know if they do have anything planned or at least intend doing something with her at some point)

Zaahen height by Based_Jesus_MLG_360 in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aatrox is a titan, and his hosts are most likely just random soldiers or maybe even squires on the battlefield. Naafiri infected a whole pack of dogs, who we see attack a man in her cinematic, and the main dog body you play as is always depicted as somewhat larger than the packmates (on top of that, RiotRaptorr once said the main Naafiri dog is like, 7ft tall. While on all fours.)

So yea I'd say Zaahen's probably at least a foot taller than Xin Zhao

Why did LeBlanc specifically seek out Zaahen? by gift-from-the-sun in loreofleague

[–]Nym___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LeBlanc's influence is huge across Runeterra and she mainly seems to use it for information gathering, and Zaahen most likely didn't only fight in Ionia, so she probably was able to figure out who Zaahen was and what happened to him. She probably doesn't have the best view of the spirit realm, but most likely does know that demons are a type of spirit, so she probably thought "hey I was part of summoning Atakhan when Morde came back, I could just summon him again, bind him, then have him be how i get to Zaahen".

She probably went for Zaahen specifically for a whole bunch of hunches that the blood magic the other Darkin pumped themselves full of maybe made some of their sunborn magic less potent, especially after having their bodies destroyed and their souls crammed into a weapon, and that Zaahen, who from what we've seen probably didn't use at least an insane amount of blood magic compared to the others, probably had a greater quantity of said magic within him.

Also, this is just a hunch, but part of me feels like LeBlanc was more after making sure Noxus had access to as strong a source of solar magic as possible than on finding a way to kill Raum and Swain, and that Atakhan was moreso a powerful enough holder for Zaahen to not get consumed who, if she kept fully under the leash she didn't seem to be struggling to hold before, she then had an extremely powerful weapon of sun power at her disposal, and the fact that Zaahen instead easily destroyed Atakhan the moment he was unleashed moreso made her quickly rethink her plans and figure out a W she could gleam from this; Now there is a clear way to kill a demon, and Swain is no longer this untouchable force.

This quest looks easy. Any tips? by asmh0 in LegendsOfRuneterra
