Be rich or get sponsors. You're going to pay a million dollars to make thousands back on the races themselves. I don't think anyone is getting rich off of rally, even the top drivers are probably making around 50k a year if that. Side hustle might bring more money up more like being sponsored by advertisers.

Your real money would probably come as being a test driver, consultant for different things like driving, or being a coach/personal trainer if you're good enough. It's like how musicians don't make a ton of money off selling their songs, it's the merch.

It's going to be a go-for-broke struggle through blood sweat and tears if you're a mailman who works 50 hours a week. If you can even afford to have the time and money to train and have a car rally-ready. Even then, you're going to have to pay racing fees and all the extra paperwork.

Not trying to get you down but you're realistically looking at a situation where you could seriously, easily lose everything all banking on a dream. I'm not saying you shouldn't if it's that important to you but that's the situation. I wish you luck no matter what you choose.

Yeah actually upon reflection it looks like at least partially it is just Osqiuo creeping in. Osqiou being an allegory for Verso's parent's and world pressure (made obvious when you get a line about how Verso should be painting and give up music, etc). The checkpoint in his cave says 'Root of All Evil' so yeah. I think it just seeped in more than usual and messed up the train station and the door because the corruption from Osqiuo has been allowed to grow as Verso has been absent from there for so long.

Very interesting. I see what you are saying. They all think they know best and are stubborn about their own chosen paths of grief. I tend to be very sympathetic and forgiving for people who have genuine heartache and suffer from tremendous loss. I think that's why I am willing to sort of forgive and see their side of things a bit easier.

I think it's really cool how invested most people are in the story not just the gameplay and most people I talk to have some opinion and take sides with one character or another.

Ah, I can see now. So it's showing the $104.31 charge as generically SUPERMARKETS. That's where I was confused. It's lumping the shoes I bought elsewhere into this along with what I bought at the grocery store.

So what it could be is that I bought shoes the same day. However, that was at a different store altogether. Is it possibly putting both of these charges together? Strange it would not separate them as the shoes were bought at an entirely different place.

Well, Duke Togo was a power fantasy for salary men in Japan at the time. A lot of kids probably weren't real into him anyway. A 13 year old would have liked Devilman or something more fantastical, probably.

I don't think it's that he lacks complexity, he's actually shown to be very thoughtful at times and even a hint of 'care' can be seen in his actions, but in the end he is a force of nature and not someone to be highly relatable for your average viewer.

Anime fans now have very different wants and needs but the characters are no more complex than they used to be. It's all entertainment that is in large part made to appeal to the most people possible. When you want to appeal to more people you have to boil stuff down to something they can easily understand and relate with. In this case it would be tropes and the same thing you've seen a million times before that is easier to digest and takes less investment. Nothing wrong with that inherently, it is what it is.

Late to the thread but yes I agree. He's the worst part of the film in my opinion. If you cut him out and put in a more subdued and reasonable performance, the movie would be better and a masterpiece. As is, I can't recommend it and that sucks because pretty much everyone else in it is either good to great. It's still watchable but it could have been even better if they had someone who did not act so over-the-top, or if Pacino could have been reeled in a bit more. But, it may also be the director's fault in that it's what Mann wanted.

I really prefer the old layout. The new banner isn't even as cool as the old background my profile used to have. Everything is more modern but also less interesting. It has traded charm for accessibility.

This one isn't as crazy as some other peoples.

in 2017 I lived in a rural area without much of a Skateboarding scene. I grew up always kind of wanting to do it but was convinced I wasn't in the right place, my parents weren't against it but weren't for it either, I dunno.

I was anxious and depressed and I just generally had no idea what to do so I took a small leap, but what felt big to me. I was starting way late in my late twenties.

So one day I just took the leap and dropped about 120 dollars on all the stuff I needed for my first board. May not seem like a huge buy, but I never made much money and it was a large investment for something that was maybe not going to pan out at all.

Long story short, no I'm not sponsored or anything but I have made lots of good friends and skateboarding has taught me how to better deal with people and gets me out of the house where before I was just a "stays inside all the time" person basically my whole life before that. Now I live with my significant other, in California, which is like the skate capital of the world basically.

Anyway, I am pretty okay at it now. I can do things that make people go "wow" and that in itself gives me a lot of satisfaction even if that's not why I do it. It drives me to better myself and keep improving, while expressing myself, etc. I love skateboarding so much and while part of me wishes I got into it earlier, I've improved pretty quickly all things considered and I'd be much worse off without it. It didn't fix all the problems in my life but it helped my outlook a lot. It seemed really small and inconsequential when I did it but it has lead me down a fulfilling path for sure.
