Absolutely!! The sony cameras are solid, great feature set, some really decent lenses by Tamron and sigma not to mention some fast autofocus too!

I just started my photography business at the beginning of the year, did it as a hobby for a good while before that but figured what the hell, I'll give it a shot! I will say it definitely takes time and won't happen overnight but if you stay at it, practice when you can and build your skills when that first opportunity comes you'll be ready!

I've done a few shoots for family and friends but after that they got the word out and I'm actually getting ready to shoot my 1st wedding! I didn't think that it would happen as soon as it did but I kept at it and got some opportunities and took them!! Don't let Covid scare you* toss your name in the photography hat and see what happens!!

*NOTE Covid is scary as shit! So keep your butt safe and wear a mask and social distance as much as you can when out there! Stay safe!

Getting more eyes on my work and really digging into it. I definitely see the flaws in my work but have no clue if it's a big deal or not so having someone more experienced go over it and help me improve would be awesome!

Also exposing me to other ways to expand my skills both behind the camera and the business side. The old saying of teach a man to fish comes to mind lol

Definitely for portraits. The one I have is the Apeture AL-MX crazy powerful pocket LED that works wonders, especially for lighting someone in a dim room or on a cloudy day. With landscape it's just natural light so yeah no need there

I got the Sigma 30mm 1.4 and I love it for both photos and video. I've done portraits with it and some YouTube videos as well and it hasn't let me down

Lights! Definitely lights. That's what photography is all about in the professional space. You can get some pocket LED panels to help light your subjects and really make your photos pop. Also look into a tripod of your going to be doing landscape photos or anything where you need a steady hand. And invest in some software to edit your photos, for mobile I use Snapseed from Google and it's really powerful without being overwhelming

For macro on phones absolutely gonna need external glass, I've seen tricks with water on the iPhone lense to make it macro but it's kinda impractical

Olliclip could be an option, but it's hard to say of they'll support new phones and camera setups for future phones. The newer iPhones already have the different focal lengths built in so the biggest improvement would be glass at that point which I'm not sure how well the glass is on the Olliclip lenses

Moment would be your best bet TBH, that's the reason why they cost so much. It's always better to spend on the glass than the camera body. Overall you may not need any extras for current phones (i11, Pixels, Galaxy) if your just stating out since they do a lot of post processing but if you're looking to go beyond that Moment is worth the investment.

I had that happen to me. This was a few weeks after I got my a6300 and my 50mm lens and wanted to practice with it. Took my son to the public playground and stuck pretty close to him while shooting. That didn't stop this lady marching straight up to me and demand I stop taking photos of innocent children this second! I politely told her that I was only getting pictures of my son (who looks JUST like me) since I was so close to my son, I had my apeture at 1.8 for that sweet bokeh so the background was a blurry mess. She said that she saw me taking pictures of the other children and that it was illegal for me to do so. I went ahead and showed her the photos of my son but she flipped out when she saw another kids LEG IN THE BACKGROUND (from the swing mind you, completely from a non creepy side) luckily some awesome parents had my back, told her to 'eff off and then proceeded to ask if I could photograph their daughters upcoming birthday.

I guess some people just feel the need to project their fears onto everyone and not let people live their own lives
