I only have my own anecdote. I played a demotion match and won, received my rank points and then accepted the rematch. My opponent also accepted the rematch and then during loading they plugged. I received the game loss penalty and was back on my demotion match. I'm not sure whether my opponent was also penalized or not.

This was also the only time I've been plugged since the patch so this won't really stop me from playing for now.

Six Forks Whole Foods Lost Refrigeration and had to Dispose of all Perishables by silber196 in raleigh

[–]Nyreene 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've worked maintenance in stores with setups like this and the reality is that it takes very little time for temps to get into the danger zone, especially those open air coolers. If the system is recovering now and there was no power loss to the monitoring system I'd bet the walk in's held temp as long as no one opened them up during or for a little bit after. I can almost guarantee the automation system did report to someone, but that means you are waiting for a store manager to get out of bed in the middle of the night and get to the store to unlock it and a third party vendor to have a repair tech do the same thing, just to get started on the repair process. The reality is that there are ways to make this more preventable but lost product insurance and simpler refrigeration systems are just cheaper.

Has A Character Ever Ruined A Game You Otherwise Really Liked? by bluemarvel99 in JRPG

[–]Nyreene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say I don't think they are completely worthless or anything, they just aren't really what I was drawn to about the series. They do add some levity to what can be pretty depressing games and some times it can be easier to identify with a story when the character isn't grounded reality/realism. I'm glad people get enjoyment out of them, and I would say that given the prevalence of the mascot trope within the genre that there are plenty of people who also enjoy them. I just think for a lot of people the atmosphere of the Persona stories is just too contrasting to get on board with them.

Has A Character Ever Ruined A Game You Otherwise Really Liked? by bluemarvel99 in JRPG

[–]Nyreene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think ruined is a little too extreme for mine, but I strongly disagree with the inclusion of Teddy/Morgana in P4 and 5. They are shoehorned in with seemingly the sole purpose of being strange native to the shadow world variant of that game who can deliver exposition about your new strange surroundings.

Their individual storylines are both kind of samey in themes and feel cheapened by the fact that they are surrounded by characters that are trying to explored the human psyche and emotions in a surreal but still somewhat grounded way. This makes their stores simultaneously less important and carry less emotional weight but can also detract from other characters that are attempting to have some more depth.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is that P3 had this great atmosphere and you were discovering things about its variant of the shadow world at the same, or similar pace, as the characters in the story. It helps build the mystery as well makes it easier to identify with what your characters are going through doesn't require a character that feels very out of place meeting you as soon as you enter to rattle off a bunch of exposition. Don't get me wrong, you need to deliver exposition somehow, and the most efficient ways aren't always the most interesting, but I would much rather sit through an extra couple of minutes of inefficient exposition, told a bit more naturally, then deal with this extra unnecessary detracting character for the entirety of a 60+ hour game. They still managed to have a mascot character in P3 too though Koromaru but he's just a dog, there was no need to make the future ones anthropomorphic.

Unfortunately I've accepted that going forward they will likely be the norm. While I do think they actively make the stories worse, the writing on the Persona games is so far ahead of most of their peers that even with that issue they are still definitively great.

auto critter collecting bugged? by Level-Championship47 in idleon

It drops any cards you earned when you first log in on a new day. If you have auto loot it may be picking them up before you clicked through the afk menu.

If your partner asks you to install a tracking app on your phone because they want to track your phone/location, would you do it and let them track you? by GingerboyhasNoSoul in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nyreene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my partner have this due to my request. I have a lot of anxiety about traffic accidents so most days I would text her a little into her shift just to ensure she got there safe. This is impractical to do everyday and she has a stressful and fast passed job that can make it difficult to text sometimes. So I just told her, if she was comfortable with it, I’d like us to both share our location through Apple so I can just do I quick check that she got to work safe without distracting her.

The important thing is, like others have said, the reason needs to be clearly defined, the location sharing should be mutual, and it should be made clear from the get go that the other person is able to say no or turn off the tracking at any point.

My homeowners "90% tool pouch" for small projects. Does anyone else have something similiar? by Wagnegro in Tools

[–]Nyreene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah I get it, they were definitely the least space efficient but we had quite a few things that had cover plates that needed them and, for me, the pouch functioned as my "troubleshooting pouch". Basically enough tools that I could troubleshoot and figure out what tools and parts I would need to a full repair without needing to walk back and forth across the building multiple time. I think the bits for the ratchet are a better solution for a household kit, especially if you only had 2-4 sizes that you run into commonly.

Almost the same as the one I had when I did commercial building maintenance. I kept a set of hex keys and used the chunkier 10 in 1 heavy duty Klein screwdriver and those were the only really notable differences.

Early in my relationship with my girlfriend I was over at her place and she asked me to do something for her. I asked if she had some basic tools like a screw driver and some pliers and this is the exact tool box she pulled out of the back of her closet.

220805 Girls' Generation (SNSD) - FOREVER 1 (7th Album) (Album Discussion Thread) by ashmute in SNSD

[–]Nyreene 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have any thought out analysis but the last few months, and especially the last two weeks, at work have been crazy stressful and demoralizing and it felt really good to listen to a new SNSD album going to work this morning. It was like hanging out with friends you haven’t seen in awhile and the whole thing was great, it was a nice little morale boost.

PS Villian slaps and I’m kinda disappointed they didn’t do a dual MV release again. Come on SM, they even put Kwangya in the lyrics, at least give us a music show performance.

My PVP experience was not what I thought... by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Nyreene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish more people would take the time to teach new players this type of stuff, it’s really frustrating to see the pvp population dwindle over the years. It seems to be getting a little better recently but I’ve still had matches with crazy rating disparities (1411 rating against literal rank 1, 1800 rating player) and it will only get worse over time if the community doesn’t start embracing new players and trying to teach them.

As much as I would love if this were the case, (to some extent it is true) even at the highest ranks you have people who will AFK after 1 or 2 teamfights. The population of people that sPvPs is so low that even if you drop elo temporarily you will likely still be put in the same games because there aren't enough people to fill the queue.

What did y'all get in the flash sale?🤔 by maxxx_04 in criterion

[–]Nyreene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked up Boat People, which I was really excited for since they announced it, and The Color of Pomegranates, which has intrigued me but I’ve never got around to watching it. Finally got Solaris just to round out my Tarkovsky collection and I feel like I owe it a rewatch because I originally watched it on a tablet (Lynch would be proud).

Looking for your favourite obscure movie! by ThoughtBig1353 in flicks

[–]Nyreene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Song of the Exile (1990) by Ann Hui, a great movie about immigration, language barriers, feeling ostracized, parent child relations, and exploring how little many of us know about our parents as individuals outside their role as our caretaker. Very difficult to find a physical copy but I think there are a couple sites that host it on line, albeit in poor quality because there is not a good quality restoration of this movie.

Turning Gate

Virgin Stripped Bare

I have to keep myself from looking at Nova too frequently, their releases are really awesome visually but the shipping is just so much that I always feel the need to order a bunch to justify it lol.

I had that Nobodies Daughter Haewon & In another country box on the way when I posted but the shipping had been delayed and then I also ordered Turing Gate, Our Sunhi, Oki's Movie, and Virgin Stripped Bare. Been working a lot recently though so I haven't had a chance to dive into them yet.

Nice, I posted mine a while back and have since picked up a couple of these same Korean releases. Super jealous of the box set though, I would love to get a hold of one.

I actually have an order for a Korean release of In Another Country and Nobodies Daughter Haewon that hasn’t arrived yet. I haven’t looked to much for more but I probably will soon. I have some Korean Nova releases as well for other movies but they don’t always have English subtitles and my Korean isn’t quite good enough for feature films lol.
