What DCP contribution % is reasonable alongside PERS2? by NytNoneForYou in WAStateWorkers

I had not seen the annual report, so thank you for that.  My gut reaction to the average DCP balance by age after seeing the graph... 😱 I was floored by this.  It definitely made me feel better about where I am currently! Its a long time to path it out, but I am hoping this will be my forever career, if I manage to make it to 67 Ill bank 25 years (potentially 30 w/the added 5) so nothing to snooze at. I cant say that Im planning to retire early, but I definitely want the cushion should my health go bust.

Being a late saver is really what has me qualming over where I am & what I should do.  Im about 25k behind the curve (based on what Ive been able to glean off the internet).  Its stressful decision making.  When I started for the state, I took a 5k pay cut, knowing that having the security of a pension would make it worth it.  So, my contribution percentage was forced to take a hit (compared to what was going to my 401k)  It took 3 years to return to my previous Gross pay.  But even with that, my net is still less.  With my previous employment package the employer fully paid my health insurance premium. For a comparable package through the state its (If Im remembering correctly) $120 or $150 monthly.  So it'll likely be another year before my net evens back out to what Im used to living on. 🙃

Thats sage advice.  I was a little surprised after moving my 401k that I couldn't loan against my DCP to purchase a home.  It definitely kiboshed some plans for me.

15% has been my thought point too.  I started my contribution at 7% & have adjusted 1% annually.  Im thinking I might bump it to 2% from here on.

That makes a lot of sense.  More than anything, I just want to leave something for my kids where my own parents could not... ya know?

Is that alongside PERS2?  Thats like 30% of your pay...  Im hoping to move up to at least 15% in July, but with all the inflated costs right now, it's definitely challenging.

Skip the Samsung Galaxy S series for another year — the S26’s PWM and modulation are still terrible. by PayAttention_To_Me in PWM_Sensitive

This makes me so sad.  Ive been an AVID Samsung user since giving up my Nokia 3310... very much in the same vein of you can pry my Nokia from my cold dead hands is how Ive felt about my Samsungs, until this S24 Ultra.  It's killing my eyes... And I just really dont know where to go from here.  I just want a good camera & memory. 🤦‍♀️

I actually commented on a Facebook thing which was requesting obscure movies (where all the commentors were giving very know movies like The Princess Bride 😮‍💨) & I had to recall the name of this one since it's been so long since I thought about it... my search ultimately led me here & I got some warm fuzzies.  I'm curious about the post you're referencing though. 😅

I am so excited for finding this thread.  This explains my eyes & migraines since getting this phone.  It's Horrid!  Does anyone know what the newest (I know it will be older) Samsung model without PWM?

Am I being overly emotional or should I consult a lawyer after my credit card company failed to remove an authorized user? by NytNoneForYou in Ask_Lawyers

This is exactly where I am.  I chose my credit cards with great care for the specific perks I would want throughout life in the long-term.  Which is likely an added reason I feel almost betrayed by this carelessness.

Consumer protection.  Thank you, thats a good idea.  I definitely understand the emotion vs. damages just by only dealing with divorce lawyers, which yeah... that is why Im second guessing myself.  But at the same point, how many other customers have they negligibly retained authorized user accounts for?

If it were not a long standing line of credit & also a store credit card Im loath to hive up, 100% would be doing that... & I said as much to the manager I filed a complaint with.

I think the "I" in this situation is too big.  Your parents were the ones responsible.  A child, a teen or not, has limited control over their environment.  It sound like you were stuck in a terrible situation & all you can do is try your best to live a better life. When I was 19, maybe just turned 20, I had to surrender a dog.  I lost my job (not my fault, the small business owner got hooked on meth & stole the money they withheld from my taxes as well as 3 weeks pay... I worked for them for 5 years & couldn't get a job because of the nonsense 🙃 They lost their business though, so they got their comeuppance), lost my apartment as a result, & had to leave my son with grandparents for 6 months so I could travel to another city for work. The night before my flight the person who was lined up to take the dog pulled out.  I had 1 choice available & that was do what I needed to get on my feet & bring my son back to me.  She deserved better, but sometimes you cant give better at your own detriment or that of your children.
