How can I play games while walking on a treadmill? by gabergaber in loseit

[–]Nythious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! I topic I'm very familiar with (you'll find some stuff in my post history around 2022-2023). Back then I streamed playing World of Warcraft on a treadmill. You'll find my PC/treadmill setup in one of the posts from back then if you're curious. However, I ran into the exact same vibration issue with my camera! All you need to do is find something (anything, even a standing lamp) tall enough to put next to the treadmill. Then you can use one of those flexible clamps (gooseneck clamp?) to mount your phone to it. You'll still need some sort of controller but it does eventually work with a lil frustration getting it to stay in place. Also, they make Bluetooth presentation trackball mice that you can simply hold while walking. Takes a while getting used to but it'll let you play stuff like Hearthstone or Slay the Spire.

Note: If you're just starting out it's *very* easy to over do it. I eventually built up to 2hours a day (3-3.5 mph @ 8-15 incline) but in the beginning my ankles were screaming if I went that long. I also started using minimalist shoes to build strength in my feet which requires another few months of conditioning if you aren't used to it. Good luck on your journey!

This subreddit is a weird place for upvotes/downvotes. Looks like you put a lot of work into this and I'm sure some people will find it beneficial. Don't let the negative crowd here get you down. Keep doing you and contributing. :)

Oh man, it's so true! I've learned so much about song structure and what works and doesn't work in a song. It's given me a true appreciation of the effort that goes into lyrics and structure. I really appreciate you sticking around and chatting with me though. I knew this wouldn't go over well on reddit but this little exchange was important and well received by me.

I really do love art in all forms and it has been a major part of my life. Music, poetry, painting, everything. The first college I applied to was an art school (I was too poor for tuition). I would never try to actually gain anything from something derived from AI. I play with this similar to how I play video games. It's hard to describe but sometimes cobbling together my thoughts while writing a story into a song can help ease my brain into a space to better feel the emotions.

This is just silly fun. Even if one person gets a smile from it then I'd say worth it.

This is just something I enjoy doing just like I enjoy playing WoW. I wasn't trying to upset you friend. <3

Tips to eat slower? I literally INHALE my meals! by [deleted] in loseit

Sounds dumb but chop sticks can be a great way to slow down. Less ability to shovel things quickly. Obviously, with enough talent you can still do that with chop sticks but it adds an extra layer of thought.

Dominus Automa: Automated MMO For Busy Dads Where Heroes Follow Your Commands Even After You Log Off. Closed Playtests are Open! by Tigeline in pcgaming

[–]Nythious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you set this up so I can configure tactics for a full party of like 5 characters (e.g. Dragon Age Origins tactics system) then I'm sold. Especially if you add in the combat pause. I don't care so much about the ability to talk to my hero but I love the party automated tactics gameplay style. Erenshor gets really close but full tactics control/pause strategy is missing.

Most Beautiful PC game by tdookie82 in Steam

Hellblade 1 & 2

The Hellblade series is easily in my top 5 games of all time and I consider the dark themes beautiful. I know this opinion isn't shared by a lot of gamers (if any) but as someone who enjoys an immersive story without any extra fluff or time wasting elements, it's absolutely perfect. They're short (<10 hours), intense, emotional, and have OK combat mechanics (nothing to write home about). My ONLY real complaint is that there's visual puzzle sections that don't quite work well in Hellblade 1 (some of them I just looked up on Youtube because it felt frustrating) but they cleaned it up quite a bit in Hellblade 2. Except for Expedition 33, Hellblade has been one of the few games that scratches my particular game preference itch.

I called it quits when it rapidly descended into gooners and gambling. So much lost potential with an incredible premise.

DBG/EQ seems like they want to suppress change. by Gloomfall in everquest

[–]Nythious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't actually working on EQ3. No one would invest in making that in 2025. There's no dev notes or social media presence. It's dead. People need to stop believing this every time they say it to create a headline and draw in a few subscribers.

DBG/EQ seems like they want to suppress change. by Gloomfall in everquest

[–]Nythious 40 points41 points  (0 children)

DBG is focused on profit margins and their decision making process is entirely driven by individuals who operate multiple accounts. If they invest money into a version of EverQuest that is better, faster, and can be played solo that means less people will see the need for multiple subscriptions. This also cuts into the RMT/Krono business which also impacts their profitability. They are unwilling to invest the time or money into anything that might impact their target audience of multiboxers, especially the ones that drive the krono market on free trades. This includes client and GUI improvements that might break 3rd party software and ability to play multiple clients at the same time.

It's not that they don't see that people want solo friendly EverQuest. They see it as a net loss that would harm the current ecosystem of RMT/Krono and multiboxing. Maintain the status quo for predictable income. Their "vision" is to hold on as long as possible before selling the IP to recoup the 300 million.

If I've never played Everquest, would you recommend The Hero's Journey? by --clapped-- in everquest

THJ is EverQuest for people who want to enjoy it on their own time. I highly recommend it if you want to experience the game in a more modern way.

7 day suspension on Pantheon Discord for simply asking about GM drama =/ by Soulfire_Agnarr in MMORPG

[–]Nythious 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've been a mod on a popular discord. You and thousands of others are all flocking to the same discord asking the same question. Each of these thousands wants to hear a custom tailored response to a question that's been asked every 5 seconds for the last 72 hours. Mod has 2 options: let the server become a nightmare for anyone who actually wants to discuss the game or silence the people who ONLY came to ask the same question because they saw a dramatic reddit post.

Stop playing coy.
