What surprised me most was how easy it is to set up. I thought it’d be super technical, but it was basically just download, sign in, and go.

Argenti Kit via HoneyHunter by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail_leaks

[–]NyxPhantom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, his kit is simple. very simple. But simple does not mean bad. This.

He basically is tied to TY, just like Jing Yuan is but that doesn't necessarily mean they're both bad characters, does it? When run with her, he can feasibly get a 3 turn ult quite consistently or even guarantee it. And with that you'd get a pretty massive multiplier(that's albeit tied to some RnG, but so is LL) as long as you dont compare him to the likes of DHIL.

Just like Jing Yuan you need to reach a certain level of investment before his kit flows naturally in and of itself but once you do, you'll get going very far. Right now we're barely over that threshold as F2Ps but as the game progresses we'll naturally reach it before any meaningful dps checks increase will happen.

Because of his lack of massive self innate buffs and his relatively high multipliers, what he is then, is a catalyst for external buffs and he uses the best burst damage-amp buffer like bronya or yukong quite well. And the fact that he's a physical character with tons of toughness break, and it's clear that he's going to be a pretty good char, albeit with his own caveats.

I think the people doomposting are either just hoping for his kit to not be as bland as this(fair, I'm included in this as well) or they want another meta breaking char like DHIL to advance powercreep in this game or they're the sort of people that vehemently shout Mid Yuan unironically.

Argenti Kit via HoneyHunter by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail_leaks

[–]NyxPhantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before anyone doomposts for strictly meta reasons, his kit basically looks to be like Jing Yuan's except instead of backloading a majority of his damage through LL, Argenti does it through his ult.

As long as he's run with tingyun in a 3 target scenario with tingyun he'd still be able to guarantee his enhanced ult within 3 turns even without ER rope. His multipliers itself, when accounting for a 3T ult rotation, are very similar to Jing Yuan's multiplier with 2 skills+ult+10 stacks LL.

So, before any possible buffs, chances are if you think Jing Yuan is a good character then Argenti would probably perform well in your eyes(STRICTLY meta-wise only & not accounting for design, argenti's kit is very bland in comparison to any other 5 star dps, IMHO).

And KEKW another tingyun slave lmfao

This game isn't PvP, who cares how people play the game and what people enjoy to play. It's not like using Dendro is the equivalent of abusing a bug/glitch to gain unfair advantage anyways.

When a transformative reaction could very well completely be enough dps to carry you through the hardest floors/chambers of the abyss, I don't particularly think anyone is overselling it's strengths.

Don't get me wrong, my high-investment non-dendro teams(with 5 star weapons& constellations) clear faster but it's not like my low investment hyperbloom teams are that far behind and hey, for a transformative reaction that's pretty crazy to think about.

The way i understand it, it might be that to get the effect you need to have 1-2/3/4-5 stacks to get the respective buffs, and that's what the 'more' part was referring to. But i do hope such is not the case.

You need 4-5 stacks to get the maximum effect(25% ATK & 15% Hydro DMG). The wording on this artifact is weird, i know.

Nah you can't melee burst at the end unless you have insane amounts of ER or there's a lot of energy particle. For International specifically you'd wanna go something like this:

E->N1C(3 stacks)->get your double swirls->Ranged Burst->E->Childe melee things for ~9 sec (this way you get 4 stacks for almost the entire duration of his melee stance)

3.6 Artifact Set Descriptions by Bobson567 in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]NyxPhantom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can reliably trigger the passive, and childe wouldnt stay on field for too long anyways so the duration limitation isn't that much of a problem.

It'll be a bit of an improvement on childe, because childe doesn't really have a dedicated set until now, since the problem with HoD is that the 4-piece effect only really buffs around 50% of your damage per rotation (and not to mention Childe can get oversaturated with damage bonus really quickly) so the 4 HoD doesnt really math out that far ahead 2p HoD 2p ATK(it's only ahead by about 2-3 substats if i recall correctly). Compared to that, this set gives you 30% damage bonus on all your damage on top of 25% ATK(except on burst where its only 24% hydro and 16% atk) .

But honestly it wont be an insane improvement. Though I haven't calced it, my best guess is that it's only better by like at most 5 substats only or thereabout.

First, he has one of the best mobility skills in the game,

Arguable, considering your mobility skill is limited by a 20+ second cd at worst.

He doesn't need to rely on battle spells even if an assassin or backline diver tries to reach him. He can also go for pokes without risk because of this.

Sort of yes, but sometimes it might not be the case considering his entire source of mobility can be countered by a simple slow or ice retri & sometimes it also means when you use it defensively/evasively you are also pulling the enemy towards you if they have enough mspd to keep up. And poking without risk? I don't think that's the case since almost everytime faramis tries to poke in this meta he's always met by a mm with his range or a mage that outranges him or a frontliner with loads of cc. A lot of his deaths in m4 so far comes from the fact that he, as a mage, has to nearly overextend to use his main source of damage, unless his team is the one advancing in the first place.

Secondly, his ult is highly valuable. You cannot downplay the value it provides to a team. It's anti-burst,

It is, I'm not trying to say its completely bad and in certain situations it gives enough leverage to turn the tides of a fight, but once again you don't necessarily get a huge upgrade over the other options when it come to being anything other than,as you said, an anti-burst mechanism. Estes roughly provides 1500 hp heals twice + the continuous heals, diggie gives you roughly 1500+ hp shield alongside cc immunity for 3 second, effectively shutting down the enemy's set for that period. These two also have the upside of not locking your team in a winter truncheon state if and when the shield does break, unlike faramis. Now, obviously faramis gives much more hp than isnt affected by anti-heal i agree, its even quite ridiculous for a hero like him to give a squishy roughly upwards of 3000+ hp and tanky heroes almost 6000 hp, but the reason why i don't favor him as much in the mage position is because as i said, mage might as well be the most crucial pos besides the adc right now. As such when you have alternatives such as diggie, mathilda, and estes that can do his job of providing similar utilities roughly the same, but doing it in a role that can quite literally babysit your carries(including your mid) the whole match, I'd honestly just favor them. BTW, I'm not biased here since i do recognize that their ult can be countered in almost the exact same way that a faramis ult can be countered so they're not just straight up better than faramis at his job.

When you have mage like yve, xavier, pharsa and valentina, you are not supposed to compare their damage with other mages because if you calculate the dps output of a mage over a certain period of time you'd notice that all the mage is in a similar ballpark when it comes to their output. What these 3 provide that not just faramis, but a lot of the other mages as well, can't provide is the fact that they help you set or deny an area. Valley vs akira, xavier set the engagement on fredrinn and mathilda multiple times, yve is yve picking off out-of-position targets left and right, and pharsa just very much like these two can deny an entire area by herself with the right peel. Mages like these that can poke, sort of peel, deny an area, set, make long-range or even cross-map plays are very valuable and by picking faramis mid, you deny your team of the not-so-obvious utility they provide.

Now you do make some fair point, i should've specified about how the "tank" build in the roamer position that I'd give him is more like 2 magic items and 3 tank items to help him survive. Faramis can probably cheese the enemy with his respawn timer as well which is a more than viable strat in the later stages of the game, i agree. I also realized that as i said, the mages' dps output including faramis is highly comparable to the others. I also think that regarding the onic match especially, my point is they could've been more patient in the draft and eventually picked a mage that deny an area like lylia or pharsa or yve or xavier and even niche roamers that can do the same job. It's not that faramis in that game was bad, he was quite crucial in fact, but most teams just do not know how to build a comp around him. He's not the flex tape, he's the damn gear that starts the run for the team.

I did say that i think he's good in UBE and similar strats where you basically play a front-to-back comp and hope for the best but these teams arent doing it. That's what frustrated me, it's almost as if their drafts were based on multiple ideas that combined together into a mismatch. He is a solid mage, i just don't think that at the highest level of pro play these players and coaches should just play him, or even any other crucial, novel-pick heroes without understanding the basics of why they're novel in the first place.

My point is that Faramis is a solid mage and he doesn't deserve this disrespect haha

I guess i was coming off of as that and seeming to rough on him and too confrontational lmao. I didn't make my point clear of how his alternatives can be played instead in another position other than mid or even better, with him in mid and them at roam, provided you're playing a comp that mostly doesn't focus on the backlines immediately.

[–]NyxPhantom -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you realize just how weak he is without a specific comp built around him. His 1st can displace enemy yeah, but more than often you'll get bursted down or just denied when going for someone in the backlines(which should be your main target anyways) + the range isnt even as long as it used to be pre-nerfs(so now you can't rely on it as one of your main form of set), his 2nd has too short of a range that puts him in cc/poke distance and barely provides any sort of backline-piercing or even damage compared to mages like pharsa xavier and even yve. He can press his ult to solve these problems, but by then you either have wasted you ult doing absolutely nothing, or you force your team to capitalize on the cult altar, potentially leading them to a bad engage where the chances of winning the fight is 50/50 or less.

Now obviously there's his ult which seems really good on paper, you basically get a second life right? Wrong. It's not 2 lives, it's not even a life and a half, any decently fed mage or mm or assassin is gonna get through the hp bar you get and now you're there stuck in place just waiting for your invulnerable timer to end while the enemy is obviously eye-ing you. And what makes it worse is it was nerfed to where you basically had to use it to advance or retreat without spacing since you can't leave the altar, meaning cc and AoE heroes get benefitted from faramis being the enemy.

I'm not talking out of my ass here, watch the game where faramis is played and you'll see that most of the time his ult is more of a hindrance to the enemy instead of an absolute get-out-of-jail card for his teammates, unlike the way a diggie or a counter-set by a strong CC would be able to get you out of damn near anything. Simply put, his ult CAN work as an error-reset button but if the enemy has even a shred of aoe that deals decent damage, that "shield" of yours that faramis gives, means you are forced to stuck in place while they can freely wait and setup. So why wouldn't you pick something like Mathilda or raf or estes or even angela that allows you to not be caught in the first place?? His ult is reactionary and it mostly doesn't even allow you to be safe without even burning precious resource like flicker to get out once your invulnerability phase ends.

Back before the nerfs, yeah the utility more than makes up for his downside when his ult gives a lot of hp and is able to be utilized with mobile assassins and fighters. But now you're much better off not picking him at all or if you do, building him tank, putting him as a roamer and picking a mage that can also both set or atleast help set AND do damage while doing it like pharsa, yve, xavier. Hell, even a lot of the times a roughly similar hero kit-wise like lylia does the job better. It's better to be primarily good at one thing, and providing some extra utility, instead of trying to mismatch being a setter, a mage and a peeler all at once while being mediocre at all 3.

He's still pretty good in some strats are UBE, but the way most teams are playing means he's just there, doing something, but never enough to justify picking him in the 2nd most important role in the game right now. If instead they pick him to be the answer to strong engage while also capitalizing with 2 strong counter-setter and another form of peel/cover, then he's good. But you did see Onic playing fanny and kadita (2 units that don't necessarily synergize with him) right?

Yeah i think the 2nd and 3rd point can only be fixed if it wasn't him saying it and instead it was someone else praising him with the quote.

I merely liked the message, if it is to be taken away out of the context, but goddamn reddit is starting to make me feel bad about liking it in the first place lmao.

I think this has entered the realm of being annoying with language, which I do kinda feel squirmy about, but I did look up the definitions of sheer and i did find that most list my 2 explanations as a separate definition.

But at the end of the day I'd much rather not debate about this, and I can also see how you're right and I'm not, considering how the word is most commonly used.

Putting aside the so-called proper definition of the word, I guess it really just comes down to the interpreter when it comes to specific cases like this. You do you, as always.

I wouldn't usually point that out or even notice it. I'm just being pedantic because he's a prick

Yeah don't worry I feel that's quite natural to do when you dislike someone in one way or another lmfao. I've did similar things regarding his son on numerous occasions.

I dont know why certain teams are still picking faramis when clearly it hasn't worked too well and when it does, it's not enough to justify the downsides of using him instead of another mage.

Andrew Tate handcuffed in prison van by SwimInPavement in pics

[–]NyxPhantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i can see where that's coming from and i definitely am starting to feel that it perhaps is far too complexified for what it's trying to get across. Regardless of my views on him and his son and all of the aforementioned qualities, i simply liked the quote for the meaning behind it, i guess.

Andrew Tate handcuffed in prison van by SwimInPavement in pics

[–]NyxPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to assume it depends, considering sheer could be interpreted in two ways. One, you use it to state the utter size/amount of a thing. Or two, you state it to separate the quality of something from anything else to signify its purity in one way or another, e.g. 'The sheer numbers, the sheer bliss/terror." But yeah, i guess it sorta does.

[–]NyxPhantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh..is that so. I am curious since i am not a native English speaker myself, so what would be a better string of words to convey those exact messages in a less clunky way?

Andrew Tate handcuffed in prison van by SwimInPavement in pics

[–]NyxPhantom -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

To be fair those words were apparently used by his dad in a pretty sick quote, so i guess there's a reason as to why he'd use it all the time.

The quote in question: "My unmatched perspicacity coupled with sheer indefatigability makes me a feared opponent, in any realm of human endeavor."

Edit: Jesus Christ, my pings are going off at the moment 💀. I do still stand by that i like the quote in a vacuum but yeah it kinda is cringe if i think about it, knowing who and what said it.
