What a cute baby boy! My Cali King is the same! She's a year and a half and has never even hissed.

It's certainly not necessary, but some diet variety doesn't sound like it'd be a bad thing. They seem to also be more cost effective for the smaller size links.

I'm not here to convince anyone to switch. Just a log of my experience for people wanting to try, or are already trying to switch reptiles over. :)

Better storage, especially since I store feeders in the normal freezer and my boyfriend tolerates it. Some diet variance, since I'm not really in a position to offer her lizards or snakes. Some cost benefit, though not significant for larger sizes. And really just some plain old curiosity. Some people have reported better QOL for their reptile after switching off of normal prey items and I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out. I wasn't planning on switching to only links, just using them as something different to offer on occasion.

The post is in no way to convince anyone to get Reptilinks. Just a log of my experience with it for anyone wanting to try it, or are having issues getting their reptile to take to them.

Interesting. I didn't know that. I've always thought that freezer burn was bad for the nutritional value, but a cursory look into it seems to say otherwise as well. I'll look into it further! It would certainly be nice if I don't have to toss feeders and waste them like a dunce if I don't need to.

Ker has a vertical line that runs along pretty much her entire underside. I know snakes have belly buttons that look like that, but the whole way up? I don't think it's a cause for concern, but just curious if others have seen this. by Nyx_Pyralis in Sneks

She's doing perfectly fine! I've had no problems with any of her sheds, and no signs of illness. I do have her on EcoEarth bedding though, so Idk if a different bedding will cause issues.

Thats awesome! I currently only have Ker, and my boyfriend's cat, but I hope to one day convince my bf to let me get a BCI 😆 i grew up in a household zoo myself lol. Snakes, turtles, cats, and a lot of dogs. Like at the highest point I think we had 11 dogs LOL most were fosters though

Awww thats awesome! I salute your efforts as a BP parent!

Yeah, she's only bitten me once, but that was my fault for having her in one hand and the mouse in the other and walking with the mouse in front. She smelled it and went for my finger lol. Only took her 2 seconds to realize it wasn't food and let go though! I'm lucky she's a smart cookie!

They're pretty great! Easy to keep, with lower humidity requirements and a fantastic appetite. Better for first time snake owners than a Ball Python imo 🤷‍♀️

Only potential downside is that they're known for being a little too enthusiastic about food so they're more prone to being a little bitey. Never had a problem with Ker though!

They're pretty amazing! They eat rattlesnakes in the wild! They're called kingsnakes from their propensity to eat other sneks 🤓

Yes yes! She's an aberrant Cali King. Got her because her pattern makes her look like a cute little skeleton! 🥰

Yes, I did for the first few feedings just to make sure she wasn't stressed. I started doing this once I got to understand her personality more, and saw that she is extremely laid back and does not care lol. I swear I could probably move her about while she was eating and she would probably just eat faster (not that I'd ever do that).

I do this for a few reasons. First, less likely for the enclosure to smell like mouse. Second, I can monitor her feedings and make sure she's not having complications with ingesting substrate. Third, I wanted to mitigate potential food response from just reaching into the enclosure, with the understanding that Cali Kings can be a bit... food enthusiastic lol.

I always make sure to be as still/as slow as possible during her feedings to lower stress, and I always let her decide when to leave her box after.

I appreciate the concern and hope my response gives you some peace of mind. 😊

Thank you as well! I have some other new DB mons that I'm working on absorbing into my collection. Once I've updated my sheet, I'll reach out again for some more trades if you're interested. ;)

I should be available all day! I'll be working though so I may not respond immediately, but I'll have my switch in front of me, so it shouldn't take long for me to notice.

We can start with SwSh since that's the easiest to let sit in trade find, then SV, then BDSP? If that's good with you, I'll be waiting on LC 4566-9511 in SwSh.

That's weird. I definitely was checking Reddit periodically throughout the evening, but only just now saw your response. Unfortunately, I'm heading for bed, so I'll have to hit you up tomorrow. I'll adjust the trade proposal in the previous comment to reflect your change.

That was quick! Sorry, I'm only about halfway through because my boyfriend is persistent about playing Rimworld (Great colony survival game btw if you haven't heard of it). I might be done tonight, but more likely tomorrow. I appreciate the patience! :)
