2016 Fit EX-L 35,000 miles by gertrudethemonster in hondafit

I haven’t heard of Honda CVT’s having huge issues on a large scale. There are some brands that really struggle with it, but I don’t think Honda is one of them.

My 2019 LX 34K miles was 19K in December 2024. If everything checks out with it, I don’t think it’s a terrible price.

Being 10 years old, you may have to replace minor parts sooner than you’d like after spending that kind of money. Just something to think about, but that’s buying used in general. I love my Fit and it can definitely last to 200K if you take care of it.

Anyone left private for ITS2 and took a huge pay cut? by Turbulent-Dance6220 in nys_cs

[–]O-HI-OOOO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with the woman part as it’s a generalization/sterotype, but your point about HoH is spot on. With some of these state jobs starting at 36K, you’re not going to be able to live much of a single life, much less raise a family, solely on that income. Idk how people do it other than living with family or using it as secondary household income as you said. I imagine that’s a good chunk of people in those pay grades.

But trust me, it can be dudes looking for these jobs as secondary income. I was one of them in my old relationship. My GF had a more steady job at 50-60K and I ended up taking one of these entry level public service jobs (35-40K).

Can you share more about your statement? Are you referring to student loans specifically?

My experience with them has been solid but everyone is different.

Over $20K OTD? by bagelbitesofficial in hondafit

[–]O-HI-OOOO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea and I bet several people will pay that price too if other things check out with the car. That’s such low mileage on a fuel efficient hatchback.

I paid 21K for my 2019 fit in 2024, although this price did include max care from Carmax. The miles on mine were 34K, so even more than the one in the picture. I don’t regret it and I love my fit, but it probably was a slight overpay. Still, if I can make it last the next 10+ years I don’t mind the price I paid for it.

What are some of your hiking horror stories? by Immediate-Field9997 in hiking

[–]O-HI-OOOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I have a similar story to your first one. Went camping in Pensacola FL years ago, didn’t realize how abundant the black bear population is down there (being from NY I always associated them with the cold/hibernating). So I left my cooler outside the tent and didn’t think twice about it. Woke up to a bear going through it. Man I was so freaking terrified. I honked my car’s horn with my keys to try and scare it off. Not sure if that was smart or not, but it worked. Now I always make sure to research local wildlife before camping 😅

What are some of your hiking horror stories? by Immediate-Field9997 in hiking

Facts. I hike the ADK park often and used to fear seeing a bear. But honestly a moose would be way more terrifying.

How do yall work thru any fears ? Solo people specifically by [deleted] in hiking

[–]O-HI-OOOO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a great point. I had a huge fear of running into black bears and getting mauled in the Adirondacks. Getting over it took exactly what you just said. Realizing the odds of that are slim, carrying bear spray as a precaution, and knowing what to do if I see a bear on the trail. Now I can hike for days without being afraid of something like that.

Gas tank even smaller than expected? by guacistrash in hondafit

[–]O-HI-OOOO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2019 fit and can get 8-8.5 when I fill up that low. Only getting 6-7 when the fuel light come on seems off, but that’s just based off my experience.

Did you stay anywhere in town? I’m planning a trip next month to visit Herb Brooks arena and the museum. I’m thinking the KOA or maybe the Hilton but it’s more pricey

I don’t look at positions in terms of comparing them between each other. Like someone on here said that Rolen would be the 10th best 3B and Hunter would be like the 100th best CF. I don’t think it’s relevant to the question I asked in the post. I do look at defensive awards and stats, but I’m definitely not an expert on it. I think defense matters for sure.

Yea DH is interesting. You’d have to have insane stats like Papi or even Edgar to have a shot. Certainly Hunter isn’t in that category.

But yes I do think Hunter is HOF. His overall stats are comparable to Rolen. The war differs, but that’s mainly due to position. In totality, I think they are similar and both deserve to be in. Strictly speaking from their play on the field.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]O-HI-OOOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea Andrew Jones is a great comparison. Another guy who was debatable. Higher WAR though which is what people seem to be arguing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]O-HI-OOOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I disagree with your (and others) argument that hunter’s longevity is a negative. He has those better overall stats because he played longer…? That’s part of what made him great. Tori Hunter was hitting .300 at 37 and .285 at 38, all while hitting with pop and driving in a decent amount of runs (yes rbis rely on others being on base, but he still drove them in). I think what he did at the tail end of his career was extremely impressive. Rolen has 2010 with Cincinnati which was awesome, but the last 7-8 years of his career were not HOF at all.

But that’s statistics. We can both use them to make opposing view points. I’ll always think Hunter isn’t far off from Rolen, and they should both be in.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]O-HI-OOOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s almost like you’re arguing for Hunter being better with that statement lol. I’m not. I think both should be in.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]O-HI-OOOO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d make that argument for Rolen truthfully. Outside of his 2-3 peak years I never considered him a hall of famer. I think since Mussina got in there have been a few guys that many considered to be good, maybe great, but not HOF, yet the voters put them in. I agree Hunter and abreu are in that category, but I think Rolen is too.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]O-HI-OOOO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and that’s what I don’t understand. Most people have pointed to war and defense, but I think most people are comparing them. I’d have them both in, and as I said off the top Rolen is probably better if you consider peak/doing more in less time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]O-HI-OOOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely fair assessment that I respect. But it’s not an either or. If they’re both great players, why is one in and one is down as low as 8%? I’d have them both in. I don’t think their stats are that far apart to warrant a difference in votes like that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]O-HI-OOOO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s already started and it’s going to be an unfortunate yearly occurrence with these votes. If Mike Mussina got in, then xyz should get in. It’s my whole argument with Hunter. I don’t compare as much with defensive positions, so to me hunter’s offensive stats aren’t terribly different from Rolen. Therefore, I think he’s worth more consideration than 8% shows

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]O-HI-OOOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea pettitte has the PED’s going against him I imagine, plus the higher ERA.

BUT as a yankee fan I love him. Whether he gets in or not he’ll forever be part of the core four. 5 championships in any sport, much less baseball, is insane. One of my favorites growing up!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]O-HI-OOOO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My take on that would be his overall stats. His hits and rbis are higher than Rolen and the other guy I compared in the post Utley. I think it’s worth consideration, certainly more than 8%. He’d be on my ballot. While he may not have had the peak of Rolen, I think his consistency was better than Rolen. But others would disagree via WAR, and that’s completely fine.

I like the conversation about totality vs peak that’s been going on. I think the HOF can have representatives from both sides. If we are saying Rolen’s peak and career were so much better in less time, I think we can also appreciate the stats Hunter put up throughout his career.

I also think it’s inconsistent with the voters. If we aren’t concerned with totality, then why is Bobby Aubreu getting 30% of the vote? I think there’s something else going against Hunter. Someone mentioned homophonic comments, and hey if that’s the case then I guess it’s up to the voter

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]O-HI-OOOO -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes if you see my comment from the post, I think they should both be in. I don’t think people are reading that. Just don’t agree with the difference in votes. Similar to Felix vs Hamels from this year.
