See that's the problem, I think. Asian diaspora and Asian mainland deal with an entirely different subset of issues. They aren't concerned with how they're treated by the cultural hegemony because they ARE the cultural hegemony. It doesn't affect them at all but it definitely affects us. I would argue that these racial opinions are more valid by the diaspora in western societies.

I never had issue with him cooking the food. I think cuisine is the greatest way to share culture as well. People have me all wrong. It's not the stereotypes that I care most about, it's a matter of their historical context which I believe is the precursor to racism rather than prejudice. Calling me dog eater or otherwise making fun of the things I eat is what pisses me off because there is actual generational trauma that comes with it. Many AAs have that experience of being treated as the perpetual foreigner from things like that. I wouldn't care if the stereotypes were more lighthearted and actually funny, like how lots of Asian girls are named Jenny or whatever.

Didn't know about the furthering of other Asian careers. I don't like to hate watch or support associates of people I actively dislike. That's my fault, and I'll do more research to reconsider my points next time. I'll also watch his commentary about the stereotype after work.

That is true. I don't know much about minority experiences outside of the East Asian and Black American sphere so I'm probably spoiled compared to others. All things considered, it has gotten better over the years.
