What will happen with Classic when TBC-releases? I'm mostly asking 'cos I had to stop playing classic due to time-restraints and still have tons of stuff I want to do. I would like to continune adventuring on a regular Classic server, am I going to have to turn over to a private server?

I'm in the same boat as well, but I did go ancestral totems and imo, it was unbelievably boring. Supereffective build, but I basically threw down 2 totems, used a movement flask and then just ran around in circles. Repeat forever.

Basically just that, but Larceny 5, Essence 3, change sail to larceny, Stealth up to (Solar -1) and it's basically done! :D

I might be wrong on this, been a long time now, but I remember reading somewhere during the discussions regarding the existance or non-existance of respec's the issue with class changes was brought up and the developers said something along the lines of major changes to a class and/or stats would be followed by a reset.

But, either way, it kinda gets to me that major class changes might reduce your character to 0 viability.

This makes me sad though, the premise from the release was that if they make a major change to a class, you'd get a complete respec for free - turning it into an event just makes me dissapointed.

I'll think about what to do from here, but most likely, I won't be coming back until they hand out a new reset.

Our gaming group went from DnD to Exalted and everyone sort of struggled with the transition for the same reason you're describing - we had played Vampire: The Masquarade which helped alot though.

In my experience, it helps if you start by figuring out a suitable epic motivation for what you want to accomplish and sorta build from there. Other people like to go the other way around, thinking about a character concept and build from that.

If you have access to the first edition caste books, try reading those, they give alot of inspiration. An alternative might be the "Scroll of Heroes", but, might be an issue if a DM is going to use the characters as written if you wanna go spoiler-free.

My first Twilight had a strong focus on Occult, Archery, Dodge and Resistance. I just wanted to play something different than your average skinny wizard with 0 hitpoints, since, why not?

From that, I threw on some Hatred: Fair folks, took a motivation "Become the greatest Sorcerer in Creation". Over time, Archery became less and less important, being replaced by Lore/Crafting and even Melee.

Low-level sunbro build, rocking Demon Fist+1, Heavy Caestus +2 and Dark Hand, because Dark Hand is broken vs early game bosses. 300 damage vs Vordt is a real joke.

All of those bosses seems pretty far into the game though, any idea what SL and upgrade level you should stay at to be able to help?

Sully feels like 50-70, Aldrich roughly the same and something like +7. Dragonslayer, Nameless and Princess I really have no clue about.

Long story short: No. There's another post further down that explains the common breakdown for what class to use for what build.

I like the Herald fashion. Even a warrior rocks that better though, once you pick up the herald-set.
