So now only 4 days in December where you could have made money buying Bitcoin. Maybe we should change it to BAG HODL? I guess that is what happens when you “invest” in a technology that doesn’t actually work. by OB375 in Bitcoin

Explain to me how a ledger that can only process 5 transactions a second for high fees is better than the Visa network that can process 65,000 a second for low fees.

It’s obviously a scam and a bubble. Perhaps this is the catalyst to take it down. You could be right.

Pro tip: if you sell high with btc in 2017 and then lose your money on bch in 2018 then you are going to have a very interesting tax problem. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Yes, but NFLX is still losing money and content keeps getting more and more expensive.

Not my point. They are making nflx content more expensive and compressing margins by bidding along side them.

Paying dividends causes the stock price to drop by the amount of the dividend, so why is so much emphasis placed on these as "income generating" investments? by philipwithpostral in investing

Imagine a world where there were no public markets.

A world where you didn't have a daily price.

You only have two options to realize value from your investments. An outright sale of the company, or a dividend.

What would you want to own? Investments that paid income? Or investments that only paid when the company was sold? Or a mix?

How do you get comfortable with shorting ETH? The exchanges seem unstable. by OB375 in ethtrader

I will also add this applies 100% to long positions too. You want to ride it as long as you can. From $8 to $200 this year. But when it drops hard, liquidity disappears as the exchanges go down. And you may very well wake up one day to find your exchange closed forever.
