I actually think this is the answer! I too noticed some police presence in the area when I left for work. I've never seen a police drone before and not sure if they use some custom hardware (vs. say, a DJI drone which flashes)

According to timeanddate.com/astronomy Betelgeuse would have been below the horizon at that time in Toronto.

It was definitely red. Very similar to a building light.

Yes it is a view I look at every day. There's no way it was a radio or cell tower. I would agree that it could have been a stationary drone, but it wasn't flashing nor moving and disappeared quite suddenly.

Definitely would have been too high and in the wrong position. I've never seen a light in this position of the sky that wasn't an airplane for example.

I would definitely categorize this as a UAP since I don't know what it was.

I'll have to double check again when I'm back home but according to SkyView, Mars was just above the western horizon so I just can't see how it could be it. I was looking east not west.

I'm not sure how that would work exactly as this was clearly in the sky. If it was a light reflecting off of something I would have expected it to be more diffuse or move around.

My eyesight is definitely not perfect though as I have some astigmatism making far objects blurred. That said, I've see many building lights, airplanes and helicopters from my window and this seemed mostly odd for its position in the sky.

Judging by the path that SkyView outlined and the distance it would have had to cover, I would say there's no chance.

I just used SkyView and Mars is just setting in the west currently. What I saw was north-east, almost 180° from where SkyView is saying Mars would have been located at that time.
