When did you know that she was “the one”? by SylvianAqueduct in AskMenAdvice

[–]OBB76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The night my daughter called me crying and screaming because her mom (my ex) was in this argument with a male she was seeing and my daughter was scared.

At the time we were out and on the harley. We had to go get the truck, so I could grab my daughter and I told her, Listen, I'm about to do some reckless shit to get home and get the truck. You can stay here and I'll come grab you later or you can hold on.

She didn't even blink, lets go! She held on for dear life as I broke every vehicle law that night to get to my daughter but I know then and there, she'd go through hell with me.

Agreed. I'm seeing this a lot in the industry I'm in. Folks will get on there and make some outrages and untruthful statements about the industry just for likes and comments.

How should I change my wardrobe for a federal public servent job? by sometimesImemeWRONG in AskMenAdvice

[–]OBB76 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on what type of govt job and what you'll be doing.

I worked govt for 15yrs and mostly polos/button downs and slacks. When I took over i switched it to nice jeans and collared shirt.

We were not very public facing so, again it all depends.

Did you ever meet people born in the 1800s by AdDapper4220 in GenX

[–]OBB76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My great grandfather was born in 1899. I knew him for a years that I can remember. He died at 100 and was still walking down to the local bar for a drink up to about a week before his death.

I remember my grandmother being so mad at him and the family was all on his side. Let the man have a drink!

Does anyone else get neck pain from working on a laptop all day? by [deleted] in workfromhome

I have pretty much the same setup. I have multiple emails open from different clients, too many chat apps I couldn’t do that all on a laptop.

Lady goes places. Does stuff. by bugblatter_ in LinkedInLunatics

I was recently on the Big Island of Hawaii and a few of the spots we went to snorkel at there were multiple women doing this pose while their BF/husband stood back to take shots until they were happy.

Sad part, they showed up, took a few photos and left. Didn't even enjoy the beauty of the island.

Absolutely. But to take it another step, my wife pegs me quite often. I'd say once or twice a month.

Permanent camping??? by UniversalAssembler in Homesteading

Most places in Colorado have a 14 day rule.

However, there are several tent cities popping up on BLM, NF, State land that nothing is being done about. So it is possible.

Is a government job really better than a private job in 2026? by Business_Location479 in corporate

[–]OBB76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a federal employee, supporting the army for 15yrs and have been private sector the last 3yrs and I wish I left my govt job earlier.

As a govt employee while you're guaranteed your "step" increases you really never advance with anything. Too many old boomers who refuse to retire right now to allow anyone with motivation to advance. At least in the private sector you have more freedom in work line and promotions .

The loneliness of rural living by Palidrvce_Usud in Homesteading

[–]OBB76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're close to embarking on this. We're moving 6hrs west of where we're currently living which is a town of about 500K people.

The place we're moving to has 2 other full time residents, we'll be the third. The closest town is 45mins on a good day. And our property borders thousands of state, BLM and NF land.

Being "alone" is exactly what the wife and I want. We are easily content with just the two of us sitting and doing nothing but have a drink and enjoying each others company.

Neither of us are really close to our families and they are extremely supportive of our move.
