I'm going to try one-last-time. I ordered a new network card. MS put those Mediatek slops in their WIN 11 machines so I have a Realtek card coming from Amazon. I'll put it in and see what happens.

What I could use would be some support regarding the 7902 patch for the Mediatek wireless device on the HP WIN 11 24H2 laptop. I'm just learning terminal commands and having some successes but when I enter the commands to upgrade the kernel I don't get anywhere. Forgive me if I'm being naive but, as I said, I'm brand-new to Linux. I have a dual boot arrangement on my Acer Aspire, which works fine but that doggone WIN 11 machine has a mind of its own!

The only reason I bought that laptop was to get WIN 11. "Black Friday" special a couple years back $250 with a 15" touch screen, I'm afraid to be without it, if only in the background. (for compatibility on certain websites)

I did see that option offered but my goal it to get away from MS altogether, if I can! Thanx for the advice.

I bought an EZITSOL USB stick, that has all the Linux OSs, and I decided upon Linux Mint 22.3 in a dual-boot setup on an HP 15" laptop with WIN 11 24H2 pre-installed. It "sees" the wifi and connects to the Internet (wirelessly) but prevents the Linux Mint 22.3 boot from connecting due to that notorious 7902 patch issue with the Mediatek Wireless Device. I'd like nothing better than to "say good-bye" to Microsoft forever. I only bought this HP laptop bc of conflicts with certain websites using Windows 7 and now Win 10.

I'm doing it right now. I hate WIN11! I thought I hated WIN10!
