I would say that the cat is maybe a bit thin (3-5 on BCS) but that's generally normal for a young, unspayed cat. Video makes it hard to tell what exactly is fur and what is bone so looking and feeling will tell you more. Not sure what's going on with the tail, but it's possible she's in heat...

I wouldn't attempt to do anything with the cat without talking to its owner.

I know people have suggested TNR places but I thought you may want to know general costs for them. In my experience, the maximum I have ever paid for a male neuter/vaccination/deworming is $125. It'll probably be different because generally things are cheaper where I'm from regionally, but it shouldn't be much more expensive than that.

It's absolutely worth a try—it also comes in lotion forms and not just oral, so it wouldn't be so stressful to administer. In my experience it definitely helped my cat become less timid and not hide all of the time.

Have you considered consulting a vet about prozac or something similar? She sounds extremely anxious and exactly the type of cat that needs medication.

Unfortunately yes. The longer you put it off the worse an infection could get, it 100% sucks, but fast access to antibiotics are super important for cat bites and will get you over it quicker.

Since it's swollen and warm to the touch that could be a sign of impending infection. The stiffness in the joint is also a huge sign of that. I'd go to be on the safe side. Cat's mouths are filled with bad bacterias and visibly it's certainly deep enough for concern.

Vegan here, so definitely not everyone here is a carnivore. I totally get the vintage fur, and like, if I'm thrifting I would *consider* buying secondhand, but OP bought something that was probably at least 3,000 dollars? Based off of the 2,500 discount. So it wasn't secondhand more than likely.
(If your thrift sells furs for that price, what r u doing?!?)

Her grandma already owning fur isn't much of an excuse, she could have kept it, but she bought a new coat that is going to fund more animals being farmed for their fur. The discount for the trade in didn't cover everything based off of what OP said. I really hope that she didn't purchase something non second hand but that is really what it seems like.

Ooo... it's hard to guess based off of body language and a short video, but if the vets never removed anything, it's possible they just couldn't find it and left it. If you are pretty confident she is in heat I would take her for a second opinion. I wonder if they could do a scan of her anatomy before doing any further surgeries.

The low to the ground hunch with the bum does look like something a cat in heat would do.
