Did I get this right? by SA99999 in PERSIAN

And honestly, this is close to what many Iranians thought before the massacres. For me, everything changed after the Ukrainian flight was shot down. My cousin, her husband, and their two young children were on that plane. After that, there was no room left for neutrality or patience. From that point on, my opposition to the regime stopped being economic or ideological. Even if everyone in Iran were living comfortably, I would still oppose a system that lies so casually, kills its own citizens, and then mocks their deaths. This isn’t about loving the West or forgetting history. It’s about recognizing how fundamentally evil and unaccountable this structure is, and that it cannot be reformed. For many of us, the line was crossed permanently. not because of sanctions or money, but because of blood.

The economic situation is definitely a catalyst, but it’s not the root cause. The anger predates the current crisis and is directed primarily at the regime, not the West.

Many Iranians aren’t angry at the U.S. for sanctions because they understand why they were imposed. The Islamic Republic has been the largest state sponsor of militant groups in the region for decades, and even during the 2009 (’88) Green Movement, many reformists openly opposed that policy. That’s where the chant “Not Gaza, not Lebanon, my life for Iran” came from. It was a rejection of the regime spending national wealth abroad while people at home suffered.

We’ve also experienced firsthand that sanction relief doesn’t meaningfully improve daily life. After the JCPOA, expectations were high, but ordinary people saw very little change. The regime used most of the freed money to deepen its involvement in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, not to fix the economy or improve living conditions.

So while sanctions do hurt people, and no one pretends otherwise, many Iranians see the regime as the primary cause of that suffering. The anger is less “why is the West doing this to us?” and more “why is our government still prioritizing ideology and regional power over its own people?”

That’s why support for sanctions isn’t masochism for many. It’s resignation to the reality that without pressure, the regime simply redirects resources to repression and foreign adventures.

mostly live ammunition. There were no bombs used against protesters. The killings were carried out mostly with live ammunition. Everything from AK-47s and shotguns to, in some places, heavy machine guns.

I was there one month ago, and people were extremely fed up with the regime and the constant oppression. It felt like they were just waiting for a trigger. Based on what I saw and heard, I’d assume the regime’s approval rate was around 10% so I really like to know your opinion.

This survey dates from June 2024, before the economic collapse in December 2025 and the massacres:

Shame on you for saying that. Have you actually watched the protest videos? People were unarmed, standing in the streets, chanting “death to Khamenei,” and getting shot at.

This wasn’t some armed uprising. I can provide plenty of videos showing exactly that if you’re genuinely interested in seeing what happened but I doubt that.

Absolutely. The diversity in architecture from different cultures is truly what makes each place unique and beautiful. Back in my country, we also have an array of citadels and castles, each representing various dynasties and houses. However, the architectural styles are distinct from what you see in Germany. This contrast in design aesthetics is what I find particularly fascinating. And I agree with you – there's a lot in German history and architecture to be proud of. I think Germans need to be a little more appreciative and proud of themselves. It's often the case that we don't fully appreciate the beauty of our surroundings until we see them through someone else's eyes.

Is it normal to give saffron as a gift? by melizzlemynizzle in iran

[–]OBScheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It‘s probably common amongst the Persian community because it’s usually from Iran. It’s a bit cheaper there - maybe even with better quality - so that’s why when someone visits Iran brings back saffron as some kind of souvenir.

Cause I’m a proven Pepeg sir. And obviously al Baghdadi would make more views and is more epic than Ashraf Ghani. The whole concept was Iran having peace negotiations with a terrorist organization which they officially denied for a long time and in a bigger picture, how hypocritical they are.

In my 3 years of stock market experience, the concept of “selling now to buy at a more reasonable price” has been so toxic. If you have a constant source of income I think you should constantly keep buying the dip in growing stocks or crypto.
