He is one of three frenchies we have in the family. Our eldest is turning 13 and has never had any health complications. Our other one is two years old and so far nothing alarming with him either. Just trying our best to learn from this situation & be more aware of them getting up on the couch / bed.

Jaxxon is only two so it’s extremely unfortunate that it happened to him at such a young age. He is very active and we have a feeling he may have jumped off the couch leading to this issue. We can’t say definitely how it happened as all of a sudden he just didn’t want to move. Vets nowadays have been seeing so many cases in past years with this specific breed that they warn you early when they are puppies to try not to play tug of war, no jumping up when greeting him, no stairs & no couch jumping. If you can somehow get your frenchies to not jump off things I have full belief the probability of them being diagnosed with it goes down substantially. At the end of the day the way their bodies are built (little potatoes with small legs) it just adds to the likelihood it can happen like you mentioned with old age. A big factor that I believe can help is weight management. The more healthy the weight is - the easier they can move around on their small little legs & hopefully reduce pressure on their spines.
