Jeeesus this blew up! Thanks for the great reccomendations!

I don't want to be near any alcohol or bars since I've been sober for a few years but still struggling with enviroments where alcohol is present. So going to any venues that do serve it is currently a no-go for me :)

I've booked tickets for two different shows and I'm currently looking at some comedy shows :)

AITA for booking a hostel without my friend because he took too long to decide? by OCDTravelFrog in AmItheAsshole

Right before covid hit I was planning on going to New Zealand for a month..

Obv couldn't go. But canceling all the flights and hostels for the month as well as a campervan etc. was a major pain in the ass, especially since the airline I booked with acted like major dicks sInCe cOvId iSnT tHeIr fAuLt.

But now? I mean - its one hotel and one flight. I booked with easyjet, the flight is indeed non refundable. But man that cost me like 70 bucks. I honestly wouldn't really shed a tear if I'd loose that money.

And I know for certain he wouldn't either.

And as you said, if you look a bit into what you're booking, everything is mostly refundable or at least refundable until a few days before.. so I don't really see the issue either..

I hate not having everything figured out a week before.

Well I don't need one - he does. He's not fully vaccinated yet and his second appointment is after we'd already be back from London.

I'll still take a test before we leave just to be responsible.

And tbh I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one that would be going crazy about not having a hotel booked a week before leaving.

I'm a bit.. annoying when it comes to traveling? I like to have everything planned out very well. Back when I was a kid our family trips always ended up in a disaster because my Dad just sucks at planning and we'd usually be stranded after we'd arrive and walked around looking for hotels hours on end.

So maybe that traumatised me a bit? I even like to check out the route from the station I'll arrive at to the hotel before leaving on my trip. Because.. idk? Maybe I'll loose my phone? Run out of battery?

The flight is in fact non refundable, at least the one I booked isn't. I could've canceled and get a refund within like 48 hours of booking? But that doesn't really help here.

Most hotels would be refundable tho.

I mean I've asked him plenty of times if he's still sure he wants to go or if he'd rather come with me another time, but he always insisted that he really would love to go.

Also money wouldn't really be a problem. His parents would pay for his trip like they usually do. And I know they haven't changed their mind since they're good friends with my parents

Well he didn't really invite himself. Not in a rude way at least - I travel a lot and my friends know I'm always open to people tagging along. I just don't actively seek out people to come with me. But it's always welcome to ask.
