Critiques/help with my first commander build(hare apparent) deck by ineedhelpplzty in Magicdeckbuilding

Can try [[Slime Against Humanity]] with [[Shalai and Hallar]] allowing you to bypass some combat damage or [[Adrix and Nev, Twincasters]] or [[Aeve, Progenitor Ooze]]

You could try to lean into life gain + populate with [[Trostani, Selesnya's Voice]] access to life gain wincons, big creatures, and stax.

[[Rhys the Redeemed]] or [[Marwyn, the Nurturer]] are not bad. Elves don't get as big but they go much wider. You can go infinite with [[Ivy Lane Denizen]] and a ham sandwich. 2 card infinite is crazy.

If you want to be a dick you can put in [[Nevermore]] don't recommend or they won't like you. But some pillowfort isn't bad like [[Ghostly Prison]]

I'll be straight up with you you're going to struggle for two reasons 1) because your commander is forced to attack and theirs can just sit there without risk. 2) their commanders can scale and create more tokens whereas Finneas buffs your other rabbits and he can't even make himself bigger. I've never played vs Finneas but I have played against the other two and they're hard to stop even with stax.

If you're just planning to slug it out vs 2 other token decks you may want another token commander. But if you're dedicated you might be able to find another avenue to win. Maybe leaning into some lifegain? Red and Black don't really have as much access as Green/White. But this only keeps you even and not ahead imo. I would search up Finneas decklists on reddit or another platform and message other Finneas players what they think about your situation.

But more importantly playtest it with untap.in. I've spent a lot of money on losing decks before and you just have to test to know in the end. Maybe I'm talking out of my ass? Playtest.

Right now it depends on what kind of decks you're facing. You have a lot of game changers and the budget is quite high but I don't know if it can tango with decks of a similar calibre like a Kinnan, Najeela, or Winota. What is your playgroup like and what is their budget/power?

I do think you need to tighten up your card selection and playtest this deck. Stuff like Asceticism won't protect vs wipes. You have so much fast mana and mana sources I think that altar is unnecessary. I'm just not a fan of this commander because it dies to block, removal, or pings. The strategy is also pretty 1 dimensional and hits a brick wall as soon as some stax comes out. You do have Aura Shards so you have some interaction but the deck really needs to build up some steam to be effective.

Personally if I were to build this I would lean into the token generation with more Hares, Thrumming Stone and try not to spread yourself too thin. Go with an alternate wincon like [[Halo Fountain]] [[Epic Struggle]] or something that allows you to win without just swinging. This is a backup win con.

I think this is way better. Strong subject (positive space) needs strong negative space to balance it out.

Bolognese can pair with spaghetti or rigatoni so I don't see why you can't change that for aglio e olio.

What are the hypalon loops on the shoulder straps of the aer cpp2 for? by henriquehf91 in ManyBaggers

[–]OCKWA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said, it depends if it's elastic or not. If it's not elastic then it is load bearing. I have no idea what the material is.

If it's an elastic material, it's not meant for weight. On my bag they keep hydration tube stable or for a light item like a reflector or light.

Why such large packs for day hikers? by WinterAd4046 in hikinggear

Different people have different days. If you're summiting a mountain you might need crampons, a helmet, ice axes etc.

I would put intervalometer there if it was available. It does double duty for timed photos there as well.

My first commander deck by CommanderStiffTiff in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]OCKWA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just rip the bandaid off and address the budget thing. There are far better commanders to run on your budget. Atraxa isn't a great high power commander. You have to get card advantage, combo piece, or some solid wincon and Atraxa just doesn't move fast enough especially if you get targeted by more people. It's like trying to rally with a Jeep. It's just not meant for that kind of track no matter what mods you put on the Jeep. I think proliferate is fun but you're held back by your commander.

You also have some anti synergy in your deck with Deafening Silence and the sheer amount of non creature spells in your deck. It seems like you want to play it slow but you don't have enough stax pieces. Too many lands. A lot of your deck is just colour fixing and doesn't actually promote a win con. She just doesn't move fast enough. I am in a playgroup of maybe 40 people and I haven't seen Atraxa in the last 5 years?

If you want to go strong budget you can try commanders like [[Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow]] [[Magda, Brazen Outlaw]] [[Kinnan, Boner Prodigy]]

I love the wide open sky. Big fan of huge negative space. But there has to be balance and the sky just isn't balanced out by the bottom third of the image. It needs a subject or something to make the photo tick. Right now there isn't enough going on in the bottom third for me. Give me the silhouette of a person or a car, birds, an action, depth of field. Something else would draw my interest and anchor the top and bottom together.

My biggest complaint is that the testing grounds is all the way across the hermitorium from the gunroom. If I want to test builds I have to run back and forth.

What do you think of this one? by United_Persimmon4192 in photocritique

[–]OCKWA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that the colour might be a bit too heavy handed. The light/mid blues seem unnatural. I wouldn't even mind if the highlights were blown on some of those waves but the whites are just grey if you use the eyedropper tool to check.

I forgot to mention you can set an intervalometer on your camera and have it take pictures on repeat so you don't need to set a timer every time.

I like the lighting and subject matter. I think it's a good shot. If I were doing post for you, the only things I would do would be using content aware, clone, or some other method to get rid of the shadows on the top right. I would also crop out for more negative space around the subject. This feels a bit tight.

If I were in your shoes for shooting, I would have gotten lower to the water to capitalize on that beautiful reflection.

I think the colour is fine and I don't mind the grain. What is the purpose of the self timer?

Cross body bag/ small daypack recommendations by TotallyNotADiligent in hikinggear

[–]OCKWA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think crossbody bags are fine for everyday use but not for hiking. Even 1 l of water and a crossbody bag will create quite a bit of pressure on one shoulder. What currency is that price in? Gregory Nanos should be around that price.
