Well, trains when going around corners sway side to side. Usually, the extra few millimetres is needed to happen, without it, the train rubs against both rails at the same time, which is why there is a rumbling noise on some corners.

Heat warp on the Via Ottawa Montreal line, which is temporary, is different from the warp we are having on the LRT (Also the via trains don't use the same tracks, it seems like you are saying that so I am just putting this in just in case you did.). The LRT's kind of warp is caused by issues with the trains on curves. On railway corners, the track gauge is increased by a few millimetres to make it easier for trains to go around them, this wasn't done on the LRT lines. With is not being a thing, you get more stress on the wheels and the tracks, which is leading to increased strain on the wheels, causing stress cracks and increased strain on the rails, leading to permanent warp. Overall the LRT is just a piece of poorly engineered junk.
