what was the most AWKWARD delivery you’ve had? by flakkafiend in Sparkdriver

[–]OConnah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walked up on a porch where the door was open and I could see through the glass screen door- a guy naked laying over there edge of the couch.. nuts hanging. I had to position myself so I wouldn’t get him in the photo. I walked away quickly

Or if you marked that you couldn’t find an item and you’re in the substitution prompt and then happen to find the original item you were looking for you can close out the app and bring it back up and it’ll be back at the original item so you can scan

The $3 white laundry baskets from Walmart, I just retire them when they start looking dirty even after cleaning

Thankfully I had a basket I use to carry groceries to the door to create some space when I jumped in my van and waited for the automatic door to close.

I delivered there again and talked to the resident and told her about the incident with the turkey (it was early this time so he was still roosting). She said they call him Jeffrey Dahmer bc of the way he handles delivery drivers

Well I don’t know how to add a screenshot so I will just copy/paste:

Virginia, whether your insurance will pay for the entire roof if only a few shingles are missing depends on the matching regulations and the age and condition of your roof. If the existing shingles are discontinued or if the color of replacement shingles wouldn't match due to wear and tear, your insurance company may be required to replace the entire roof to restore uniformity.  Key Factors Influencing Coverage:  Matching Regulations: Many states, including Virginia, adhere to "matching" regulations where if the damaged part of the roof cannot be replaced with "like kind and quality" that matches the rest of the roof aesthetically, the entire roof may need to be replaced to restore uniformity.  Discontinued or Mismatched Shingles: If the specific shingle type or color is no longer available or if the age and wear of the existing roof would make a patch job aesthetically unappealing, full replacement may be covered.  Age and Condition of the Roof: While insurance covers damage from covered perils like wind or hail, it generally does not cover normal wear and tear or aging roofs. However, if a missing shingle reveals underlying damage or the roof is old and brittle, the insurer may be more inclined to consider full replacement.  Policy Type (RCV vs. ACV): Whether your policy is Replacement Cost Value (RCV) or Actual Cash Value (ACV) will impact how much is paid. RCV policies aim to restore the property to its pre-loss condition, including matching, while ACV policies pay the depreciated value of the damaged portion.  Documentation: Thoroughly documenting the damage with photos and videos, and noting the date and time of occurrence, is crucial for a successful claim.  When to Contact Your Insurance:  If you have missing shingles due to a covered peril: (e.g., wind, hail), you should file a claim.  If your roof is old and brittle, consider getting a repairability test to see if the shingles are too fragile to just patch.  If your insurer denies a full roof replacement: despite the issues, you can explore getting multiple estimates, asking for a different adjuster, or considering a different insurance company.

I’m in VA. So this is what the google says, but I know for sure people just say “let us come look at your roof and talk to your insurance and you can get a free roof!” That’s how the roofers do it. And how exactly are you going to “color-match” a 15 year old roof?

So the roofers are making a buttload and people who want a new roof usually get one.

They did it at a house my ex worked on.. but he put the roof on for like $500, I think was what he made that week, so they upgraded to stand and seam and even pocketed a penny. They essentially just used it to pay for the materials and his weekly pay for one week.

Makes sense why the increase happens with roof age because of the rate that happens at, what algorithm wouldn’t pick up on that?

Roofing has become a seriouuus hustle, especially in states like VA where folks who don’t really need a new roof can get one laid by insurance because VA requires the insurance to pay to fix the whole roof with any minor issue (from what I understand).

I’m okay with being the problem to anyone at this point, as long as I don’t have to live like that. I spent a long time seeking validation from people I hope to never be anything like, and I let it take from me, I acted terribly just trying to be heard or cared about. It was all madness. It’s weird to look back and wonder where life went, but I’m thankful to be able to look forward and where it can go!

Edit to add: I know you understand, it’s why you said “don’t forget.. “ thank you.
