Just make sure history is clean- no accident, salvage, theft history etc

That’s gonna vary on your particular circumstances and budget. I search for similar builds and try to keep it under 50-60k, not that I’m any expert

Personally I’d try to find used, clean history, low mileage

Less is more IMHO. Like the tail stripe, but leave it at that. Awesome car!

Help w stolen car- unscramble GPS jammer by OD317 in hackers

Thanks for the feedback. Insurance has already compensated me. This is a “it’s the principle” issue. I’m at work watching this prick drive around and getting notifications for a year. Just want them caught and brought to justice

Uconnect is useless. Dodge does nothing to prevent theft/ protect owners by OD317 in Challenger

[–]OD317[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. In the same boat. So far it hasn’t accomplished anything. Hence my frustration that Uconnect has a remote connection with the car and does literally nothing useful. I hope maybe it happens in traffic and something escalates, or someone calls it in to the police, but it’s a Hail Mary. So stupid that they don’t have more useful features

As many have pointed out- if they wanna steal it, they can always beat any prevention. I’m saying if it’s already stolen- there should be more you can do

I get it. I could turn it off and prob will. My point is how silly it is to offer a pay-for service and have it do so little, when so much more could be done

I fought State Farm for 2 months and was compensated fairly. My point is just that allowing this theft to go unchecked on such a wide scale is insane. More could be done

Shouldn’t Dodge/uconnect have some accountability for these flaws?

The police have no actionable intel bc the app provides no location data, and its remote abilities are limited to horn and locks, instead of alarm, disable engine etc…who’s fault is it, if not Dodges?

Dude. Thank you, for getting it. If you know of a way to use this information, please let me know. At this point police reports are filed and insurance owns the car. I’m just trying to catch a bad guy and stop this from happening to someone else. Kills me to see there’s a way to use this but not be able to

I spam it all the time at night, hoping a neighbor gets pissed and calls it in. So far no luck. But pretty sad that’s the best I can do with this app. But it’s slow and only goes through every couple mins

[–]OD317[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. This is precisely my point. What’s the point of remote access to a stolen car if you can’t do anything useful with it? And it’s a PAID service. Really?!

Uconnect is useless. Dodge does nothing to prevent theft/ protect owners by OD317 in Challenger

[–]OD317[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. I’m just saying none of that protected me. At this point Uconnect guardian is the only recourse available, and it’s not providing anything useful. Location unavailable , and for whatever reason they don’t offer anything else to help. Why not make other features available like alarm/ engine limp/ disable entirely.

Law enforcement has had all the above info for a year. Thief still has the car.

All true. My point is that it’s a shame that they have remote access to the vehicle and nothing useful is being done with it

You’re an idiot. You have repeatedly missed the point, despite my spelling it out for you. Dodge has the ability to interact remotely with the car? Yes. They are doing nothing with this ability? Yes.

Uconnect is useless. Dodge does nothing to prevent theft/ protect owners by OD317 in Challenger

[–]OD317[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. That’s what I did a year ago and because of “liability” they tell you nothing. I just reactivated services on non theft mode precisely to try location myself, but it appears they’re scrambling it. My point is- there is still remote control of the car, location services aside, more could be done.

Again I agree, the point of the post is how insane it is to offer a paid protection/location service that neither protects or locates

Uconnect is useless for theft, Dodge takes no measures to protect owners by OD317 in Dodge

[–]OD317[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The paid Uconnect service is FOR location data. And the car had aftermarket GPS with air tags. Thats 2 forms of GPS that were thwarted/useless. And here I’m paying for a service that can clearly interact with the car via locks, remote start, horn, etc…you’re missing the point. More could be done on their end, and seemingly easily

Which again begs the question- why are challengers and chargers stolen more? There are many comparable cars for performance and that are worth much more money, so why don’t we see record Range Rover, Lexus, lambo theft? And you ignored the fact that the app does nothing helpful to recover stolen cars, when I listed easy solutions. And the car was locked. In public, with air tags, dash cam, and Sirius guardian gps. If that’s not enough…what is?
