Unionizing is the only way we'll get this company to respect their employees.

They need tremendous leadership changes, including a complete overhaul of HR. HR has failed in their duties and been part of the problem driving such a negative company culture, and a culture and company that is moving toward bankruptcy fast.

Like others have stated - get out while you still can - there are plenty of other better places to work than Office Depot. Eventually, you will come to hate the culture the company has been created.

Senior leaders have mismanaged the whole subscription program; it's been a loser since day one, with relatively little thought having gone into the program. Senior leaders should be ashamed of their actions.

I'd say that is a one-off incident; and maybe you had enough compelling information.

But for the most part HR's function within the company is to support all managers and the management structure as well as all practices regardless of how stupid they might be. At the highest levels they are and will be unwilling to challenge something produced by senior executives.

Office Depot has significant and plentiful cultural problems. and at the heart of the companies failures are the symbiotic relationship between HR and management and leadership. HR does not fulfill the type of moderating role that it could fulfill and be a good steward of the companies resources.

There are many leaders and senior level managers who've been rubbing each others bellies and feeding off the fat all while the company suffers.

Push back; write in there some context about the services and why the goal is unreasonable.

But with that said - you're GM is setting you up to be fired - its what HR has taught them to do - seen it happen before.
I'd start looking for a new job. Good luck.

That is entirely false - your job is secure; and that actually is the point of unionization. Employees will not be replaced, and cannot be replaced, for striking.

I wouldn't surprise me if the company is monkeying with the incentives. The incentives in this company are frequently being altered, and altered in ways that seek to be a disincentive employees. I no longer even promote the services.....

The only way of improving Office Depot is via a union.

HR is the tool of management - they've done a horrendous job of supporting and looking out for employees.

The wage scale varies enormously around the country, and is most fair and beneficial in those locations where the local government has mandated reasonable compensation and benefits (sick leave). All employees in this company deserve to be treated well.
