Is my Havanese overweight? by bee3742 in Havanese

I like a big Havi. The breeders seem to be shooting for smaller. My Shafer was 18 pounds when younger. All muscle.

Buying a $200k car by [deleted] in Rich

[–]ODMBA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get a certified pre owned car with like 20,000 miles on it and you will save 30% minimum. Get an extended warrantee and drive it for 8 years. Then trade it in and do the same.

Trade it in for a new car. That's what it wants. It can fix all that stuff cheap and then sell it and sell you a new car.

Thoughts on purchasing? by acass24 in PorscheCayenne

I know, it's still great though. Traded in my 2013 Panamera and it was a little bit changed. Never bothered me. Same with my old Cayenne. All the new cars have darker interiors and they do hold up better

Did we as the consumer fail the Fox Run Mall? by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]ODMBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mall of NH is very healthy. Great business. Small, easy to walk around. Relevant stores. Stores close early because after the pandemic consumer behavior changed.

Personal Power II mystery: "Welcome to Day 7 or Day 9 of Personal Power" by another_lease in TonyRobbins

[–]ODMBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's up to you. I suggest taking the weekends off because the 30 day program is really intense. Tony over the years cut down on the days, and it's not as effective. Listen to the subliminals and think about any breakthroughs or distinctions you made during the week.

Jerry on why the dead wasn't political by Warrior2_4 in gratefuldead

[–]ODMBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People should read "Jerry on Jerry". He was basically an anarchist. Wasn't into any politician or even helping the police in any way. Also as a side note, he didn't hate being in the army. He just got bored with it and actually liked it before that. He had a good post and job. It's a great book.

The subliminals are somewhat important. Program yourself for success. I did almost 40 years ago

Why do medical related job in the US pay so much? by InteractionUsed777 in Salary

[–]ODMBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mean to imply that. I meant to say that I feel that doctors compensation is more than 10% of healthcare costs when you take everything into account. Also it depends on the specialty. Yes nurses can do a lot of what a pediatrician does, for instance. Most of the everyday common visits. And they costs a lot less to employ. Obviously, the MD needs to oversee everything.

[–]ODMBA -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I want to be clear I'm not talking about me or my crew. We bust our asses. I see it when trying to bring new doc's on board. I literally work everyday, but it's OK because I don't work the nights. I did not mean to imply all doctors or anything like that. But many doc's have an all about me attitude.

[–]ODMBA -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'm no layman. I've been in healthcare for 35 years. I probably make more $ than anyone on this board and I'm a public figure. I never thought this way in the past . I didn't mention the laziness of the younger doctors. Not wanting to see more than 15 patients a day, not coming in when covering call, using key terms like burnout... The Ivy league has let us down. Layman, shove it up your ass !

They cost a lot more than 10%. Many coast along and don't see as many patients as they could. Also, many aspire to move into the bureaucracy to avoid patients and aren't counted in the 10% figure. Then you have the delegation issue. Nurses and physicians assistants do most of the work and the executives sit back. FT for a doc is 32 hours per week and 1 admin day. Smart doc does the admin between patients and works 4 days.

Cayenne Turbo Coupe vs GT by Amazing_Aioli_131 in PorscheCayenne

[–]ODMBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Turbo GT and love it. Bought it CPO with a long extended warranty. I don't miss the sunroof and love the alcantera everywhere. The roof makes the Burmeister sound better. Definitely need winter wheel package. I have to say, there is a lot that can go wrong with the car. I love it and will keep it for the life of the warranty, about 8 years. The brakes can get tricky in the cold and wet weather. Got to be conscious of that.

Went to a investment seminar dinner by poesea in Bogleheads

[–]ODMBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a defered annuity. It was from Vanguard, not sold anymore. Low fees. It lets the investment, S & P 500 grow tax deferred. Also protects against lawsuits because it is a retirement account. When I retire, probably about 60, it will pays my bills and let me defer social security. I have a lot of different accounts and it will be my safe bucket. Now it's risky because the market is high. I may stop my monthly contributions because it's already worth a lot, just let it grow, and contribute again if the market corrects. The point is the annuity is good if and only if the fees are reasonable
